Position Description Advertised Job Summary Reporting to the Director of Campus Recreation & Student Life, the Coordinator of Student Life is responsible for the development of a vibrant student activities' community and facilitating student involvement by providing leadership and advisement for major student programming initiatives on campus. This includes advisement and development of student leaders and organizations, program planning and execution, budget management, assessment, evaluation and collaboration with campus and community departments and organizations. Additionally, the Coordinator of Student Life serves as a Student Success Coach and is responsible for providing holistic academic and personal support grounded in USCB's seven dimensions of well-being and focused on the noncognitive factors associated with academic success. The coaching program is designed to provide a personalized experience through mentorship, career guidance, and academic support while addressing individual student needs. As part of the institutional initiative to increase student well-being and engagement, these roles will also develop and coordinate programs and opportunities in one or more of the following focus areas; student activities, student organizations, leadership education, fraternity/sorority life, or community engagement. Minimum Qualifications Master's degree in student services, higher education, counseling, human services, psychology or related field; or a bachelor's degree in education, counseling, human services, psychology, or a related field and 2 years' experience in counseling, advising, teaching, tutoring, coaching, or similar role. Travel between USCB campuses and community resources and vendors. Evening and weekend commitments will be required. Valid driver's license required. Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, or a closely related field. Experience working with first year experience or student success programs. Experience with strengths based learning or positive psychology. · Experience planning, marketing, budgeting, evaluating, and reporting on programs.   • Develop and implement engagement opportunities in the following areas: student activities, student organizations, leadership education, fraternities & sororities, and community engagement.
  • Assist with university events including open house, orientation, registration days, accepted students' day, etc.
  • In collaboration with students, faculty, and staff, direct the planning and coordination of university events such as welcome week, homecoming, and other campus wide events.
  • Assist in fiscal oversight of Student Life budget.
  • Manage campus engagement platform to track, assess, improve, and collect students' co-curricular data.
  • Coordinate campus recreation activities and programs.
Student Employee Supervision
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student employees.
  • Manage and oversee student employees in the planning process and coordination of campus events, activities, and programs.
  • Interpret university policies for students, student organizations, and campus partners related to co-curricular involvement at the university.
  • Assist with the development of research and assessments for various programs and services, such as programming needs assessment, the effectiveness of programs and services including outcomes assessment and student satisfaction.
Student Organizations/Leadership Education
  • Provide comprehensive support to registered student organizations and advisors, including monitoring budgets and spending according to university policies.
  • Coordinate the student organization registration process.
  • Develop and implement a fall and spring training workshop for student leaders and advisors including but not limited to leadership skills, programming skills, budgeting, setting goals and learning outcomes, risk management, recognition activities, and program evaluation.

  • Supervise student employees in the planning and coordination of signature campus events to include, but not limited to: welcome back block party, Friendsgiving feast, winter formal, and homecoming oyster roast.
  • Negotiate rental contracts and/or coordinate with the city of Beaufort for any events that are held off campus or on city streets/property.
  • Coordinate caterers, event planning services, and university stakeholders as necessary
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners who engage with the campus through signature events.
Essential Function Yes Percentage of Time 65 Job Duty Student Success Coach A Student Success Coach supports the retention efforts of the university by supporting students in building skills, behaviors, and habits that contribute to success, retention, and completion. The success coach will provide one-on-one holistic support aimed at helping USCB students navigate the first year of their collegiate experience.
  • Provide student case management and comprehensive support for first-year students including academic, career, and personal support through connection to a broad network of internal and external services.
  • Promote academic and personal success by responding to student challenges that are identified through early alerts, student of concern reports, EdSights Chatbot insights, and other external and internal systems.
  • Identify current and potential needs or problem areas (e.g., study skills, tutoring), and refer students to appropriate campus resources for assistance.
  • Teach students how to problem solve by identifying alternative options as they relate to their life and career goals
  • Connect students to USCB events/activities in order to increase student engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records in the appropriate university system on each student in the coach's caseload.
