General Purpose

Oversees a department, which has a major impact on corporate, business unit, or organizational objectives which often require considerable resources and high levels of functional integration. Establishes business objectives, strategies, and plans in support of Company strategic goals relating to the implementation or usage of operational technology. Accountable for the delivery of complex operational technology projects within the business. Manages and allocates financial and employee resources. Responsible for selecting, coaching, and developing employees and management of employee salaries.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the department and manage complex, high-risk and politically sensitive operational technology projects from assignment to closeout. Direct project teams to ensure all phases of projects meet cost, schedule, and quality requirements.
  • Responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all aspects of the development and implementation of design, financial, legal, change management. Manage multifunctional matrixed project teams across business departments.
  • Establish, track and control project cost, scope, schedule, and risk to deliver assigned projects within their approved scope, budget and schedule. 
  • Develop detailed project plans and ensure project scopes, team responsibilities, milestone dates, and the procurement strategy are clearly stated for all assigned projects. 
  • Define and manage interfaces with senior management, business units, regulators, and vendors assigned on projects.
  • Coordinate the development of conceptual and detailed designs ensuring Operations is leveraging technology to gain efficiencies through business improvement.
  • Interface with stakeholders throughout the project life cycle to assure their criteria and objectives are met.
  • Negotiate with vendors and contractors regarding work scope changes and ensure that all contract commitments are completed on time per the scope of work and technical specifications.
  • Interface with appropriate management levels including senior management to gain necessary approvals and manage risk in accordance with corporate governance. 
  • Manage the bid process for external services.
  • Monitor the scope, cost, and schedule for variances and implement corrective measures.
  • Provide project progress reports to management and other stakeholders in accordance with an approved communication plan.
  • Stay abreast of new and emerging operational technology processes, tools, and techniques within the industry and provide recommendations on best practices/processes.
  • Responsible for daily communication of expectations, coaching employees, providing ongoing feedback, and working collaboratively with other departments.
  • Facilitate change, develop others, foster continuous improvement and drive for compliance to a developed standard.
  • Ensure that the best technical processes and practices are applied across the business unit.
  • Oversee process centered transition activities and special projects. 
  • Select, coach, and develop employees.
  • Review and evaluate employee performance and prepare annual reviews.

     

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an applicable field; or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.
  • Ten years of directly related experience.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in people management.
  • Management skills including the ability to establish objectives, execute policy, monitor resources, and manage the development or implementation of a system, program, or process.
  • Knowledge of Company's strategic plan, objectives for specific area, as well as Company policies, procedures, and practices. 
  • Ability to analyze information, form conclusions and provide meaningful and creative solutions to non-typical business issues
  • Highly skilled in motivating and influencing others, experience in team building and conflict management
  • Proficient with the use of personal computers including spreadsheet, database, word processing, presentation applications and SAP. 

     

Preferences

  • Advanced Degree.
  • Supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership skills is highly desirable.
  • Experience in budget preparation, analysis and cost tracking.

This position is eligible for an annual discretionary performance incentive bonus of up to 20.00% of salary.
