Our team of Educators drive PLC’s mission by developing innovative curriculums, to deliver forward thinking programs to our students and strategic partners. The Director of Education must have a foundation of design creativity, enabling them to conduct training for our team of educators, collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to strategic departmental initiatives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You will leverage your leadership capabilities, manage a diverse team of instructors, directors, and chairs within the organization, and contribute to external partnerships (ie. HBCUs and the AICAD organization).
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Liaise with the founder, education team, and directors to monitor the day-to-day operations of the program(s) and addresses student concerns as they arise
- Track student progress using university systems and processes
- Leads Education program calendar and growth and retention strategy, website updates and communicate schedules and calendar deadlines
- Works with faculty leadership on academic policies and curriculum requirements, program admission decisions, and events to be aligned with regulatory guidelines
- Contribute to the training, support, and evaluation of ongoing academic and student advising programs and performance of Chairs
- Maintain a pulse on new technology, industry trends, and educational strategies
- Participate in the Education budget forecasting and implementation
- Manage special events for the program(s) relating to admissions, orientation and workshops, education exhibits and conventions or large-scale symposia
- Solves problems in areas such as academic and administrative policy, student admissions, curriculum research and development, and budget development
- Execute process improvement for emergency management programs and manage accommodations for students with disabilities
- Assist with reporting, licensing, accreditation, and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrate cultural competence when working with diverse populations
- Develops training and professional development programs for the Education team
- Manages studio directors and works with the education team to plan and execute staffing and needs of the department
- Engage in professional development and establish network for alumni
- Co-lead hiring and managing education faculty
- Performs other related work as needed
- Design education strategy, academic leadership, and non-profit operational excellence
WHAT YOU SHOULD HAVE
- A minimum of a master’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
- 5+ years progressive professional experience in a related job discipline in higher education as an Academic Administrator with a design emphasis
- 5 + years of experience in managing education faculty (design preferable)
- 5 + years of experience with design-related curriculums and knowledge of accreditation
- Ability to meet deadlines, think critically, maintain confidentiality, manage data and projects, work independently yet always ready to collaborate
- Proficiency in Adobe Suites, Google Drive, Microsoft Office Suites
- Ability to adopt new software and cutting-edge programs quickly
