Job Description - Director of Financial Planning & Analysis

The Director of FP&A serves as a key leader in our finance department, overseeing financial forecasting, budgeting, and analysis that support strategic decision-making across the health plan. This role demands a strategic thinker with a proven track record of enhancing financial processes and delivering insightful financial analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the FP&A team, overseeing the financial planning, budgeting, and analysis operations.
  • Develop and execute financial strategies and models that align with the organization’s goals and objectives.
  • Direct the preparation of all financial forecasts and budgets, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and alignment with strategic initiatives.
  • Provide expert financial guidance and analysis to senior executives, helping to shape the organization’s financial and operational strategies.
  • Analyze industry trends and the competitive landscape to forecast impacts on business performance.
  • Enhance and implement financial and operational systems, processes, tools, and control systems.
  • Serve as a key leader in financial decision-making that affects the company, ensuring fiscal responsibility and cost-effectiveness.
  • Mentor and develop the FP&A team, fostering a collaborative, productive environment.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field; CPA or CFA is highly desirable.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the healthcare or insurance sector.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and executive presence – ability to motivate staff.
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills with a deep knowledge of financial forecasting, budgeting processes, and data analysis.
  • Strong proficiency in financial software systems and databases.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate insights to senior stakeholders.

Preferred:

  • Experience in managing change and implementing new processes and systems to improve financial performance.
  • Proven track record in scaling FP&A operations within a growth-oriented organization.
