Who We Are:

Equal Opportunity Schools (EOS) creates equitable learning environments and ensures that students from diverse ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds have the opportunity to enroll and succeed in your most rigorous high school courses.

Through the Action For Equity (A4E) framework, we support schools and districts with the coaching, data analytics, and student identification tools necessary to eliminate the opportunity gap.

We’ve partnered with over 800 schools, including 5 of the 20 largest districts in the country. We've maintained an 80% renewal rate with district partners, and have supported districts to enroll an additional 52,000 students of color and low income students into advanced academic pathways across the country. Over 75% of schools maintain their pass rates, average grade earned and average test score after working with EOS.

The Opportunity : The Director of Learning & Practice will inform and guide the strategic vision for partner learning and practice, co-design curricula and the arc of adult learning for school-based partners, facilitate learning experiences, and manage the Equity Leaders Lab team.

Key Priorities During Your First Year

What You’ll Do:

INFORM AND GUIDE THE STRATEGIC VISION & PRACTICE FOR PARTNERSHIPS

  • Evaluate quantitative and qualitative partner data – utilize feedback, insights, and learnings to develop a strategic vision and plan for the future of adult learning and standardized practice.
  • Analyze the current national educational landscape against internal systems and practices for continuous improvement and adult learning – iterate on these systems and practices in order to increase retention, address the evolving needs of school-based partners, and prepare EOS for scaling.

CO-DESIGN CURRICULA AND THE ARC OF ADULT LEARNING FOR SCHOOL-BASED PARTNERS

  • Develop the scope and sequence, curricula, and the arc of adult learning for Equity Leader Labs with the goal of meeting school partners where they are (e.g., phase 1-4) in the A4E program implementation process.
  • Collaborate with the Equity Leader Labs team to redesign the curricula and experience for partners and re-launch regional symposiums aimed at building capacity, shifting mindsets, and embedding equitable practices at school sites.

SUPPORT, COACH AND MANAGE THE EQUITY LEADERS LAB (ELL) TEAM

  • Build inter- and cross-departmental bridges with the ELL team; align goals with the overall strategic plan; and communicate the ELL team's learnings, insights, and happenings to others within the organization.
  • Identify and leverage each team member’s strengths, career and lived-experiences to achieve goals.

FACILITATE LEARNING EXPERIENCES FOR SCHOOL LEADERS

  • Facilitate equity-centered learning experiences, data analytics workshops, and developmental activities for school leaders — which include educators, school administrators, superintendents and district leadership.
  • Meet with Partnership Directors (managing a portfolio of school-based partners across 30+ states) regularly to understand and align learnings to regional needs and evolving landscape.

Who You Are

  • You believe in EOS’s Mission. You believe in EOS’s mission to break down barriers to increase access, belonging, and success in rigorous college and career-prep secondary school courses for students of color and low-income students.
  • You connect policy to practice. You use insights and data from the field, as well as your understanding of policy and the national education landscape to drive priorities and decision-making.
  • You are a strategic and analytical thinker. You are able to see and communicate the big picture in an inspiring way. You seek out, analyze, and synthesize data and/or experiences.
  • You center inclusionary and equitable practices in your every day. You are personally committed to redressing power imbalances, developing mutually beneficial and non-paternalistic partnerships.
  • You are an entrepreneurial initiator. You are comfortable with ambiguity and have an ability to maneuver through a remote culture that is in its growth stages.
  • You design meaningful learning experiences.   You differentiate learning experiences and spaces based on the needs of teams. You co-create, leverage and uplift the expertise and unique perspectives of others.
  • You coach others through change. You manage, lead, and enable the process of change and transition. You develop tools, frameworks, and support systems to shepherd teams through growth/scaling.
  • You are a compelling storyteller and communicator. You believe quantitative data only tells one side of the story and seek to better understand the full picture. You draft compelling communication that is tailored to the audience.

Benefits: Equal Opportunity Schools offers a competitive benefits package and paid time off policy . This includes, medical, dental, vision life and long-term disability insurance, retirement planning/employer matching contribution,  accrued paid time off (10 hours/month during first year), employee assistance program, funding of professional development, and flexible/alternative work arrangements.

Travel: During your first year, it's anticipated that you will travel approximately 40% of the year. Depending on where you're located in the US, this may include team retreats, meeting and getting to know the program first-hand in various regions of the US, and convening with Partnership Directors, etc.

Is this you? We’d like to learn more about you! The application is designed to more intentionally and meaningfully get to know you. This includes: (1) Resume (2) Two Short Written Responses (3) A one-way video interview . No Cover letter or additional attachments will be accepted or reviewed.

Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and Black, indigenous, people of color are less likely to apply to jobs unless they meet every single qualification. At Uproot Talent, we are committed to partnering with organizations who are intentional about building diverse, inclusive and authentic workplaces – so if you’re excited about this role but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate for this or other roles.
