Job Summary

Perform advanced financial records maintenance and report preparation and reconciliation within the business area of an academic/research unit or non-academic department. Coordinate those activities with other campus units. Work may involve records, reports and proposals related to funding from various sources, budgeting, and accounting. This position will interact with on a consistent basis with: unit management, staff and co-workers This position typically will advise and counsel: unit financial/accounting staff This position may supervise: Assigned Staff (financial/accounting staff) Job Summary

The Financial Administrator III in the School of Literature, Media, and Communication is responsible for the following:

  1. Prepare, review, and approve travel authorization requests
  2. Coordinate ongoing faculty travel/expense training.
  3. Process travel reimbursements through the WorkDay for the School Chair, faculty members, staff, and non-employees.
  4. Process financial transactions in order to purchase, order, and maintain materials and supplies.
  5. Serve as a purchase card holder to procure materials and supplies
  6. Process check request, invoices, deposits, and expenses
  7. Post transactions on internal ledgers and maintain financial documentation
  8. Maintain, monitor, and report balances for faculty annual travel and research accounts (TARA)
  9. Assist the school's administrative manager with financial matters and special projects.
  10. Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Within an academic/research unit, develop and prepare financial data related to proposals, grants and contracts, general appropriations, endowments and other funds. Job Duty 2 -
Generate data for use in budget amendments and other budget related reporting. Job Duty 3 -
Collect, reconcile and audit monthly unit expense transactions. Job Duty 4 -
Process travel requests to include review for accuracy and appropriate supporting documentation. Job Duty 5 -
Review and/or process payroll, time documents and personnel action forms. Job Duty 6 -
Coordinate unit financial related actions with Institute financial units. Job Duty 7 -
Recommend changes to unit finance/accounting procedure and process as appropriate. Job Duty 8 -
Provide work related advice and direction to other unit finance/accounting personnel; may also supervise those personnel. Job Duty 9 -
Perform other duties as assigned Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Experience

SKILLS
This job requires advanced knowledge of and skill in applying general accounting principles and practices within a university business environment. Additionally required are attention to detail and accuracy and use of office and specialized accounting related computer applications.
