Our Global Greens team reconnects new Iowa farmers with the land as they learn about U.S. agriculture and start their own small farming businesses. From supporting farmers as they sell produce at our annual market and CSA to helping them access their own land to grow food, you can make a difference and empower your newest neighbors.

What You'll Do

The Markets Specialist will attend Global Greens farmers' market and provide support and administrative functions to vendor clients. Specialist is responsible for event planning, setup and purchasing of supplies and equipment for farmers' market. Direct services will include but are not limited to helping to process credit card, EBT, and Double Up Food Bucks payments; collecting vendor fees; providing customer support at the Global Greens market booth; providing technical assistance to farmers about attractive market booth setups and delivering produce. Additionally, the Markets Specialist will provide assistance with the Global Greens Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and the Elder Food box program.

The Specialist will work with the program supervisor on strategic planning other food access work as it applies to Global Greens and the farmers' market. This includes building relationships with non-profit and community organization partners, planning for and implementing food access and developing market initiatives. Will also work to build relationships with other markets and work with farmers to grow their businesses by attending these markets. This could include group trainings and individual support. May also help the team with other aspects of production and greenhouse work when needed. Weekends during Global Greens Farmers' Market and some evenings required.

What You'll Need

Required: Bachelors degree and minimum of one year of related experience OR Associates degree and 3 years of related experience OR significant experience in the core areas in lieu of minimum education. Must be able to work independently with limited supervision and demonstrate culturally competent social skills and interactions.

Preferred: In addition to the required competencies, a preferred candidate will have one or more years of experience working in farmers' markets. Knowledge of local farmers' markets and the general local food movement in the area is preferred. Able to confidently and accurately handle financial transactions.
