Position Highlights

The role of the Grant and Contract Administrator, IV is to support Principal Investigators by handling administrative and technical duties related to grants, contracts, and external agreements from funding sources. Additionally, the Grants Administrator IV acts as a liaison to the Office of Sponsored Project Services. Pre-award services, including grants management, proposal review and preparation, are provided, with a focus on collaborating with Principal Investigators and research staff to ensure adherence to regulations, terms, and conditions. The primary focus of this position is to offer pre-award services encompassing grants management, proposal review and preparation. The position is expected to work closely with principal investigators and other research personnel to guarantee compliance with regulations, terms, and conditions, including oversight of subaward/subcontracting issuance and administration.

Duties & Responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with
    researchers to prepare grant proposals, ensuring adherence to sponsor
    and University of Arizona guidelines and requirements.
  • Coordinates
    submission of ancillary actions such as Just-in-Time information,
    rebudgets, no cost extensions, etc. and facilitates contract
    negotiations.
  • Provides guidance to faculty and staff on proposal development and budget construction.
  • Conducts thorough analysis of budgets to ensure accuracy of expenditure calculations.
  • Represents the unit on university committees and contributes expertise to drive positive change.
  • Contributes
    to special projects and provides administrative support as needed.
    Provides direction to junior staff members and fulfills additional
    job-related responsibilities as assigned.

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

  • Proficient in navigating the intricate landscape of
    research administration guidelines, encompassing both Federal and non-Federal
    sponsors, particularly within the dynamic setting of a university.
  • Acquainted with the regulatory nuances concerning human
    and animal research subjects, financial conflict of interest, biosafety
    protocols, and other pertinent compliance requirements.
  • Capable of efficiently managing a substantial volume of
    transactions, accompanied by adeptness in conducting intricate financial
    analyses and crafting tailored reports using spreadsheet and database software.
  • Exhibits autonomy in decision-making, fortified by
    excellent communication skills geared towards delivering exemplary customer
    service across diverse research domains.
  • Remains abreast of evolving compliance regulations,
    encompassing a comprehensive understanding of generally accepted research
    administration standards.
  • Displays adept interpersonal skills vital for engaging
    with a wide array of individuals and groups.
  • Possesses an in-depth understanding of regulatory
    frameworks such as the Federal Acquisition Regulation, Code of Federal
    Regulations, and sponsor-specific policies, alongside a keen grasp of conflict
    of interest stipulations, and publication protocols.
  • Proficient in navigating OMB circulars including
    Universal Guidance, A-21, and A-110, as well as principles underpinning cost
    accounting standards.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience preparing and submitting high volume, high value grant proposals.
  • Professional certification preferred.
  • Experience with UAccess Research and Analytics preferred.
