Wonderspring is seeking a Group Supervisor for its before and after school program in the well-regarded Colonial School District. The Group Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operations of creating a fun, enriching and safe Out of School Time (OST) program. This full-time year-round position is benefits eligible and is ideal for graduate students or aspiring leaders in educational management.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support the Site Supervisor in the implementation of lesson plans based on developmentally appropriate practices that reflect the approved curriculum objectives.
- Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of the children, be alert to the needs of children as individuals and as a group as outlined in the Wonderspring Supervision of Children and Child ID policies.
- Maintain a professional and positive demeanor while interacting with children, parents, colleagues, and administrators.
- Teach children how to use acceptable alternatives to challenging behavior to reduce conflict by using provided techniques such as FLIP IT and Second Step.
- In conjunction with Site Supervisor, observe children in the program throughout the year by recording observations, anecdotes, checklists, and other methods.
- Provide and maintain a neat, organized program, ensuring the upkeep of materials and equipment. Encourage children to engage in housekeeping activities by guiding them to store their toys and supplies in designated areas.
- Support the Site Supervisor in maintaining an aesthetically and educationally appealing site as directed by the Colonial School District.
- Collaborate with the Site Supervisor in the preparation for licensing, COA standards, and monitor visits.
- Oversee continuous quality improvement initiatives (CQI) within the program, identifying areas for enhancement and implementing strategies to optimize the overall experience for children.
- Engage in Wonderspring staff meetings, attend in-services, external training programs, and actively participate in center events to foster professional development, collaboration, and a cohesive team environment.
Qualifications
- Minimum AA/AS in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or AA/AS/BA/BS in related field with 18 ECE Credits
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience working with school-age children
- Two (2) years’ experience working with children
- Excellent, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills reflecting strong customer service and the ability to interact effectively with parents/guardians and school district personnel
- Proficient in Microsoft and Google Suite
- First Aid/ CPR
Work Schedule
- 30 hours per week, Monday through Friday
- 7:00 AM – 9:30 AM and 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM
