Job Description - Hozpitality - Director of Housekeeping

Description At Hyatt Centric Congress Avenue Austin, we believe in providing exceptional experiences for our guests, and our Director of Housekeeping plays a crucial role in ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction. As the Director of Housekeeping, you will lead the housekeeping team, oversee day-to-day operations, and contribute to the overall success of the hotel. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for short- and long-term planning and the management of the hotel's Housekeeping operations
  • Develop and recommend budgets, labor cost plans, and objectives
  • Lead and mentor a multilingual and multicultural housekeeping staff
  • Ensure proper staffing levels to meet customer service goals.
  • Coach and counsel colleagues to reflect Hyatt service standards and procedures.
  • Implement and maintain an effective inspection program.
  • Inspect a selection of rooms daily to ensure high standards are met.
  • Monitor and enforce safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with vendors to ensure proper pricing, delivery, and maintenance
  • Collaborate closely with other departments to ensure seamless hotel operations
  • Experience catering to the special needs of VIP guests
  • Stay current on the latest housekeeping and laundry technology.
  • Implement strategies to enhance colleague engagement and satisfaction

Hyatt Centric Congress Avenue Austin features 246 guestrooms, 3,000 sq ft. of dedicated meeting space, along with two exciting F&B concepts including an 8th floor rooftop bar. Guestrooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows offering unmatched views of the Texas Capitol, UT Stadium, and growing Austin skyline. The 31st floor is the home of the Artist's Residence, a 1,400sq ft suite and event space with an outdoor terrace. The hotel's boho-chic residential design will reflect Austin's rich history in music and arts, with the common areas showcasing diverse local artists and guestrooms featuring iconic images from the historic neighboring Paramount Theatre. Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.
  • 3 years or more of progressive hotel Rooms Management experience (preferably with Hyatt)
  • 1 - 2 years of Housekeeping leadership experience preferred
  • Experience as department head within Rooms division preferred
  • Preferred experience with Opera, Colleague Advantage, HotSos, Kronos
  • Service oriented style with professional presentations skills
  • Must possess the following strengths: high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional customer service and ability to improve the bottom line
  • Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must have excellent organizational, interpersonal and administrative skills
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance colleague engagement and satisfaction, fostering a positive work environment
  • Strong emotional intelligence and interpersonal skillset
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Experience in purchasing linens and housekeeping supplies as well as maintaining inventory and par levels
