Job Description - HR Specialist Gonzaga University

Job Summary:

The HR Specialist supports hiring and new employee programs for Gonzaga University. This position performs professional work overseeing a range of administrative functions related to recruiting operations, onboarding, and customer service. This position helps hiring managers and search committee chairs with hiring, onboarding, and related programs for staff, faculty and administration. Incumbent proactively contributes to creating and maintaining Gonzaga University as a welcoming and inclusive environment for all through effective implementation of recruitment and onboarding processes. The budgeted annual salary range that the University reasonably expects to offer for this position is $57,999 – $65,012 annually. The internal full salary range is $57,999 – $78,469.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two (2) plus years of progressively responsible experience in recruiting operations and/or human resources. Or six (6) years of recruiting and/or HR experience may be substituted for educational requirement.
  • Demonstrated strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products and Applicant Tracking Systems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to deal effectively with all levels of faculty, administrators, and staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain professional standards of confidentiality.
  • Ability to handle difficult and confidential matters with good judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Able to manage a high volume of activity in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and the university's mission, vision, and values.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships and actively contributes as a member of working teams to achieve results.
  • Obtains, analyzes, and evaluates information effectively in the face of ambiguity. Makes appropriate decisions based on relevant information and experience.
