Location - Remote - Must be located in the Southwest ( MT, WY, CO, NM, KS, OK, AR, TX)

In this role, you'll work closely with the Vice President to provide supervision, direction, and training to our Directors of Organizational Development. But that's not all - you'll also play a pivotal role in expanding our consulting services and introducing cutting-edge organizational models to our member organizations through the Boys & Girls Clubs Movement.

 

As our Lead Director, you'll be the bridge between Boys & Girls Clubs of America and our member organizations, interpreting our goals and objectives and providing unwavering support for all our services. Collaboration is key, so you'll also work hand in hand with various departments to ensure seamless communication and partnership across the board.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

Impact and Growth
• Provide direction, training, supervision, as well as participate in the evaluation of Directors of Organizational Development, and other staff as assigned by the Vice President
• Work in conjunction with Vice President, develop strategies and consultative services for Directors of Organizational Development and member organizations to increase average daily attendance, overall membership and teen recruitment, membership, and retention
• Provide direction and support to communities in primed for growth through innovative initiatives and collaborations.
• Assist Clubs to increase the overall Club Experience rating
• In collaboration with the Vice President, ensure and monitor equitable distribution of BGCA’s pass through funds and resources available in the unit
• Provide support and advice to assigned Area Council(s) and Area Council leadership. Ensure continuity of leadership for assigned councils
• Lead planning and support for assigned State Youth of the Year events and assigned roles in Regional Leadership Conference
• Align organizations with movement wide priorities based on Standards of Organizational Effectiveness and End of Year consults
• Promote the use of BGCA national programs

 

Strong and Stable Clubs
• Conduct orientations on services and resources available from Boys & Girls Clubs of America
• In collaboration with the Vice President provide oversight of the Unit process including monitoring Organizational Annual Plans and targeted projects
• Provide consultation services, when necessary, with the placement process of Chief Executive Officers within Boys & Girls Club organizations in the Unit
• Provide consultation services in partnership with Club leaders in strategic planning to facilitate organizational advancements, including, but not limited to assisting Clubs implement management agreements, mergers, and growth strategies
• Strategize and diagnose the provision of technical support services and coordinate the use of field consultants, technical consultants, and the delivery of services by various BGCA departments to designated member Boys & Girls Clubs in assigned service area
• Institute relationships with new Chief Executive Officers, Board Chairs, and other board leaders in assigned service area
• Assist Clubs in increasing the resources and revenue available to achieve their strategic goals and objectives
• Assist targeted Club to increase their capacity through innovative structural models such as, but not limited to, shared back-office functions, mergers, program partnerships with other BGC organizations and other providers
• Engage in positive partnerships with member organizations in the unit and promote a culture of legendary customer service and highest ethical standards
• Work in conjunction with Vice President to coordinate and provide consultative and technical assistance to Boys & Girls Clubs in assigned service. Align services delivered by BGCA subject matter experts, field consultants, and technical consultants
• Identify future Movement leaders and provide ongoing career consultation and support as needed

 

Autonomy with Accountability
• In collaboration with the Vice President, assure and monitor the compliance of BGCA membership requirements and operating standards with member organizations in the region
• Immediately report all crisis situations to appropriate leaders. Provide assistance to local Clubs in their preparedness to handle the crisis and assist them with managing such crisis. Coordinate/facilitate with Boys & Girls Clubs of America staff in the development of BGCA’s response to the Club crisis.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
• Promote and protect the BGCA brand
• Guide and support organizations in the unit in the advancement of BGCA’s strategy/national priorities
• Guide, support and help build the team in the accomplishment of the unit’s goals and objectives
• Coordinate and manage the OJJDP selection and allocation process and interface with other units to maximize funding
• Assist with other projects and assignments as requested by Vice President and Senior Vice President, Organizational Development
• Demonstrate BGCA mission driven I*CARE values and integrate these beliefs into our environment and ways of work
• Adhere to organizational policies and procedures as described in BGCA's Employee Handbook, Ethics Policy and elsewhere

 

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
• Direct supervisory responsibility over Directors of Organizational Development

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education: Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education/experience equivalency
Experience: Minimum of seven years’ experience in the management, administration, and operation of a Boys & Girls Club (or similar organization)

 

SKILLS

Demonstrated competence in written and verbal communication skills; data analysis, managing databases, consultation and diagnosis; demonstrated high standards of ethics and integrity; supervision and management skills; non-profit organizational planning and budgeting; negotiation and consensus building skills; strong interpersonal and human relations skills; successful board and resource development skills; strong organizational skills; and demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook, MS PowerPoint, Zoom, and MS Teams

 

ABILITIES
High energy level, comfortable performing multi-faceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities. Superior interpersonal abilities. Ability to get along with diverse personalities, at all times displaying tact, maturity and flexibility. Good reasoning abilities and sound judgment. Physical requirements include sight, hearing, and sitting for four plus hours per day. Skills essential for successful communications include speaking and writing.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL & WORKING CONDITIONS

• Normal internal working environment.
• Approximately 60-75% travel
• The individual selected for this position must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to navigate areas of the country by using a map or other direction methods
