Primary Purpose of Department:The Department of Public Health Sciences is hiring this position for the newly formed Department of Health Management and Policy (effective July 1, 2024). The new Department of Health Management and Policy (HMP) is committed to excellence in research and teaching, to building a faculty and staff committed to preparing a diverse workforce, and to extending educational opportunities to students from all backgrounds. Our mission is to promote equitable health systems by developing knowledge and future leaders in management, policy and research. The Department has extensive ties with local and regional health departments, health care systems, and other community partners. We offer a BS in Health Systems Management, a CAHME-accredited MHA program, and a new MPH in Health Policy. We collaborate with the School for Data Science in the delivery of a MS in Health Informatics and Analytics. The Department is a member of the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) with 12 full-time faculty serving over 600 undergraduate and 50 graduate students. The Department will be housed in the College of Health and Human Services, which is approved to transition to CEPH-accredited School of Public Health status. The College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) ( is a member of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH). In addition to HMP, the College of Health and Human Services also includes the Department of Applied Physiology, Health, and Clinical Sciences; the Department of Epidemiology and Community Health; the School of Nursing; and the School of Social Work.

Teaching – Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:This is a term-limited position with a three year contract period. The successful candidate will teach in our BS in Health Systems Management, Master in Health Administration, and/or MPH in Health Policy; and contribute professional service to the institution, community, and discipline.
Minimum Experience/Education:UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience:Candidates must have a masters degree in health administration by August 2024. Candidates are expected to have a minimum of one year of teaching experience at the undergraduate and graduate levels across a variety of delivery modalities (on-campus, online synchronous, and online asynchronous). Candidates must present evidence of teaching excellence and experience with student mentoring. Knowledge of introductory and advanced concepts in health systems management and health administration is required. Preferred candidates will be doctorally trained and have five years of recent experience working in the healthcare industry. We are particularly interested in candidates with a background in health informatics. The extent to which the candidate can contribute to the mission of the new Department will be considered.
