Machine Operator/Lab Assistant

Day Shift Pay:
$24/hour Main responsibility & work tasks
As a machine operator:

• Responsible for running the lines control system in regards to feeders, extruder and supply of raw material
• Responsible for insertion and ejection of material
• Responsible for daily control of the line in regards to leaks, temperature, cooling water, pressure etc.
• Responsible for change of screws in the feeding equipment
• Responsible for judgement of the raw material's impact on production and quality (when mixing).
• Responsible for stringing and optimization of the quality of the granules
• Responsible for quality change in running production (without stopping production)
• Responsible for effective use of the available work time for various causes
• Responsible for control of the product quality and to adjust when needed
• Responsible for control of each batch according to controll instruction for compounding
• In regards to competence level, be responsible of adjustment of polymers and pigments
• Responsible for production of material in accordance with pre-determined formulations, quality demands and delivery time.
• Responsible for attending to and taking care of the department machinery and work equipment
• Taking responsibility for being active in the planning of the teams long-& short term goals
• Taking responsibility for complying with agreed work routines and work procedures
• Responsible for maintaining a clean and orderly workspace and department
• To actively participate in the teams development work with continous improvements etc.
• To actively participate in personal development based on development plans
• If applicable moreover work in accordance with the Shift leaders instructions and what is agreed in general applicable agreements

As a Lab Assistant

• Responsible for continuous physical/visual quality control of incoming material and other material testing
• Responsible for the control and approval of finished and post-processed material in ongoing production together with EHSQ Manager
• Responsible for order (cleaning etc. carried out according to routine) within the work area
• Responsible for reporting deficiencies in work routines and work environment to the EHSQ manager
• Responsible for quantitative and qualitative goals being met.
• Responsible for applicable documentation/reporting of control efforts/results
• Responsible for the care and maintenance of the laboratory's existing mechanical equipment
• Be responsible for materials being used in a cost-effective manner
• Responsible for internal training activities within the work area
• Responsible for establishing routines
• Respond to stay up-to-date regarding current security procedures
• Participate in color matching of outcome samples to customers and determination of pigment recipe document for the production department with associated activities
• Participates in the design of routines
• Participate in the introduction of new employees
• Participate in the development of quality systems
• Participate in follow-up/problem solving
• Participate in development projects
• Otherwise according to the instructions of the EHSQ manager

Work Environmental Responsibilities

• Own responsibility to use designated protection equipment according to current safety regulations
• Own responsibility to hold or to find out regulation within the work environmental area to secure that the work performed is done in accordance with laws, regulations and instructions
• Own responsibility to coordinate with required functions, external and internal, in the responsibility of a good work environment.
• Own responsibility to without any delay report to closest manager situations where risk of life or health exist.

Outer Environmental Tasks
Own responsibility to perform the daily follow-up and control of the below areas:

1. Change of filters, dust separator, ventilation
2. Minimization emission (air and water)
3. Minimization - waste
4. Minimization of energy and waste consumption
5. Minimization of polution in handling of chemicals
6. Correct handling of residual products

Authorities/Rights/Duties

• Point out shortcomings within the area of responsibility to closest manager.
• Correct collegues where incorrect performance of designated work tasks which may have an impact on quality, safety, productivity and/or coordination within the group exist.
• Point out need of resources if/when a safe work environment may be at risk.
• Approve or fail batches in ongoing production testing
• Report deficiencies within the laboratory to the EHSQ manager

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and 25 lbs. frequently.
• Must be able to bend/stoop/reach.
• Job requires frequent standing and walking.
