We are seeking a Turnaround Project Controls Manager within our Project Resource and Outage Support (PROS) Group located onsite in Gonzalez, LA , Allentown, PA, Pasadena, TX, or Long Beach, CA . This position requires the ability to travel 25% depending on assigned workload. This is a diverse group that supports Industrial Gases (IG) North America capital projects, strategic planning, turnaround (TAR) planning, and turnaround execution. This allows our team to provide specialized services and additional capacity for infrequent events to operational assets. This role reports to the TAR Manager, North America.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a specialized project controls team with the greater North America TAR team, including a Cost Control Lead, Worklist Administrator, and TRACK/Requisition team to manage costs across the TAR lifecycle, from front end strategic planning through to close out and make good analyses.

  • Direct creation of overarching cost control strategy and its implementation within the TAR environment utilizing and improving upon existing tools and best practices within the organization. Remain flexible to react with speed in a volatile execution environment while maintaining core strategic principles to allow for clear cost visibility.

  • Oversee TAR worklists to ensure scope is managed per enterprise design, with notifications created for discrete items and grouped appropriately into work orders.

  • Manage cost control interfaces between procurement and the TAR planning/execution teams. Maintain cost and scope discipline, particularly around Field Change Orders, as notifications, work orders, and requisitions are requested and sent for purchase order, providing feedback and education as required.

  • Maintain appropriate SAP requisition release levels and ensure timely oversight and release. Support TRACK/Req team lead in streamlining the requisitioning process and enforcing procurement and purchase order best practices.

  • Support TRACK/Req team lead in improving and streamlining TRACK implementation. Lead roll out of service order entry within TARs, including appropriate educational tools for both internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure TAR accruals, capitalizations, and write-offs are completed accurately each month. Serve as primary PROS interface with project accounting and subject matter expert on finance procedures and best practices within TARs.

  • Manage additional funding requests as required, utilizing cost control tools to quantify and explain cost overruns.

  • Focus TAR close out processes for expedited final cost confirmation and release of liens. Leverage procurement resources and tools, including nonconformances, to drive efficiency.

  • Oversee creation and application of cost repository for use next cycle’s front-end development and estimating. Provide direct ownership of cost coverage within Strategic Planning for the fiscal year and ensure clear estimate basis is provided for quantifiable cost performance.

Required Skills / Abilities:

  • Preferred background in an industrial setting with working knowledge of operating plant systems and typical turnaround/maintenance/capital project scopes.

  • Strong working knowledge of common financial and accounting principles and models, with a strong focus on SAP reporting and data management.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and planning skills

  • Self-motivated and willingness to learn and improve

  • High ethical standards

  • Willing to work a wide variety of scheduled days and hours

  • Works professionally and harmoniously with employees, peers, management, support personnel, program participants and business area persons

  • Utilizes positive and constructive attitude toward resolution of problems and conflicts

  • Accepts direction, constructive feedback, and supervision

  • Proficient in the use of computers and business software, including Microsoft (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook) OneNote

  • Proficient in use of SAP

  • This role is a Safety Sensitive Position

Education and Licensing Requirements:

  • Degree in engineering, finance, business, or related fields

  • 10 years’ experience in turnarounds, project management, controls, or maintenance

  • Valid Drivers' License and good driving record required.

Work Hours & Benefits:

Typical work week is 40 hours. Longer hours are required during project or outage execution which may also require working some weekends. Travel is required in U.S. and Canada, primarily California, U.S. Gulf Coast, Edmonton, Ontario, and U.S. Northeast. The work environment is diverse from an office setting to onsite at Air Products operating facilities since reporting personnel are often field based.
