Role Summary

The Managing Director, NOC sets the long-term strategy and oversees the financial performance of the NOC (Bridge Operations, ERBC, Weight & Balance and CLP) at AAG.  As a people leader, this role establishes strategic goals and direction for a team of leaders to evaluate and lead the operating philosophies to provide the best customer service to the greatest number of passengers while maximizing revenue and aircraft utilization. As well as have oversight for the functional aspects of the command center to develop processes to anticipate operational disruption, implements plans to mitigate the effects and communicate to all affected parties.

Key Duties

  • Establishes, leads, and executes the development and implementation of the division’s strategic business plans, performance measurements, and the development of divisions or corporate goals focusing on continuous improvements of people, systems, and processes.

  • Oversees and evaluates our operating philosophies to provide the best customer service to the greatest number of guests while maximizing revenue and aircraft utilization.

  • Provide leadership and coordination for the functional aspect of the emergency coordination center (ECC).

  • Leads the process to anticipate operational disruption, provide notification to interested locations and implement plans to mitigate the effects.

  • Ensures and implements strategic initiatives and procedures to be used in various irregular operations situations.

  • Drives strategic initiatives required bringing about continuous improvement with leadership team.

  • Provide operations coordination for schedule development, and input into routing, ground, and block time methodologies.

  • Leads cross divisional efforts to continuously monitor and improve operational performance/anticipate and plan for disruption and brief senior management as requested on trends and actions.

  • Provide effective communication forums to ensure all operational units are adequately briefed and properly coordinated and customers receive accurate and timely information regarding flight status.

  • Ensure the most efficient allocation and use of spare aircraft time.

  • Provide leadership and direction at OPL meetings.

  • Direct operational analysis and ensure robust business intelligence to identify performance trends, underlying causes, and suggested remedies for continuous improvement.

  • Identify opportunities to reduce cost.

  • Promotes a high-performance culture by developing people through effective performance management and ongoing feedback, focusing on fostering strategic and systems thinking, development of talent, and succession planning across teams and functions.

  • Influences company culture through action, presence, and reinforcement of behaviors.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills

Required

  • 10 years of Airport/NOC, Airline operational experience, or relevant experience.

  • 5 years people leadership experience managing large work groups with multiple layers, hands-on operations senior leadership experience, including experience leading large work groups, and leading multiple functions simultaneously in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment.

  • Bachelor’s degree, or willingness to attain bachelor’s degree within six years of start date.

  • Proven track record leading cohesive, results-oriented teams.  Leadership style must be collaborative and team-oriented, while still able to effect change and challenge the status quo.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop deep, positive working relationships with all levels of the organization, particularly senior leadership in key areas of operations.

  • Strong leadership skills with demonstrated strengths in team building, systems thinking and managing to objectives required.

  • Balance operational excellence while maintaining productivity, financial goals and safety.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.

  • Proven ability to leverage business acumen, analytic and critical thinking capability to position the organization as a critical business partner.

  • Sound, strategic thinker with a track record of demonstrating good judgement, strong business acumen, and executing plans with a sense of urgency and a mind for safety.

  • High energy, positive and executive-level presence along with strong communication (e.g., verbal, written, presentation) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to create collaborative relationships that change outcomes in the best interest of the company, with others in the organization, and with key external business partners.

  • Skilled at making and defending tough decisions, while demonstrating care and concern for the opinions of others, both inside and outside the organization.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence change and initiate actions that have strategic impact and drive a high-performance culture.

  • An active and effective leader that communicates well with her/his team to motivate and develop staff.

  • Minimum age of 18.

  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Preferred

  • Master of Business Administration degree.

  • Broad understanding of airline operations, economics and schedule routing preferred.

Salary Range

$182,600-$301,300 / year

Total Target Compensation Range (incl. bonus & equity)

$301,290 - $497,145
