Medical Lab Technician

Job Description:

Lighthouse Lab Services has partnered with a well-established lab that is looking to hire an experienced and motivated Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to be a part of our growing laboratory team located in Birmingham, AL. The ideal candidate will have experience in Hematology and Chemistry. This position will be responsible for the daily operations of automated clinical laboratory instruments including maintenance, patient testing, calibration, quality control, and troubleshooting.

Previous experience on the Abbott Alinity or Beckman Coulter Microscan is a plus!

Responsibilities:

· Prepare instruments for daily operations

· Follow HIPPA regulations and Standard Precautions

· Perform testing on patient samples

· Evaluate sample integrity to ensure accurate results

· Review and interpret results

· Communicate critical values in a timely manner

· Troubleshoot instruments with the assistance of the Lab Manager and Technical Services

· Assist in monitoring inventory of supplies and reagents

· Communicate issues to management in a timely manner

· Assist in performing CLIA waived tests

· Assist in ordering and preparing samples for outsourced testing

Skills:

· Experience in Chemistry and Hematology testing

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Data analysis (patient results, quality control, and calibration reports)

· Experience working with automated clinical laboratory instruments

· Knowledge of specimen stability and storage requirements for various analytes

Job Type/ Salary:

Full Time; $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Education/ Experience:

• Associate in Clinical Lab Science (Preferred)

• Laboratory: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:

• MLT Certification (Required)
