Duties

This position is located with the JFHQ DCSG1 Plans and Actions Branch in Marana, AZ. The purpose of the position is to provide support in the administration of Military & Family Readiness Program (SFRP) services for the Army National Guard within the State Family Program. This is achieved by performing assignments designed to provide familiarity with the Family Program, community services, effective relations with supporting social service and emergency organizations, recruit and train volunteers, promote resilience and financial literacy through targeted life skills training, and the development of human resources program referral networks.

  • NOTE: Individual selected will receive an Indefinite Appointment and may be converted to permanent based on availability of funds or position no longer being encumbered.
  • Irregular (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial vehicles to perform temporary duty assignments.
  • This position is subject to rotating shifts, night shifts and weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess 24 months specialized experience, education or training equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants must have experience providing technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Applicants must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures and practices of management. Experience developing administrative procedures. Experience, education or training which provided a general knowledge of principles of organization, management, and administration. Compiling reports, letters, memoranda, etc., and required person-to-person contacts to convey information. Progressively responsible experience which demonstrates the ability to provide technical guidance and assistance in the type of work or in comparable work of the position to be filled. Experience using computer and automation systems. Experience with Family Assistance, Child and Youth Program, Referral, Volunteer Management. Pre-deployment, deployed, and post-deployment phases of the Service members deployment.

Your qualifications will be evaluated on the following competencies (knowledge, skills, abilities and other characteristics):


1. Ability to serve as fully independent advisor within geographical area of responsibility in accomplishing all objectives of the Soldier & Family Readiness Program (SFRP) for the Army National Guard to maximize retention and readiness.


2. Knowledge in managing and operating family assistance center and provide assistance to commands within geographical area of responsibility in support of the SFRP.


3. Skill in providing training and technical support to Commanders and Family Readiness Liaisons to support their Unit Family Readiness program and Soldier & Family Readiness Groups (SFRGs).


4. Knowledge in providing input to develop, articulate, and implement the Family Readiness Program at the State level, inclusive of family readiness, family assistance, employment outreach, volunteer training and management and improvement of quality of life and well-being of Service members and families.


5. Ability to submit information to support development and budget forecasting to support the Soldier and Family Readiness Support Program to higher headquarters.
