ABOUT RIGHT TO THE CITY

Established in 2007, Right to the City was born out of a desire by members, organizers, and allies around the country to have a stronger movement for urban justice. Right to the City Alliance asserts that everyone – particularly the disenfranchised – not only has a right to the city, but as inhabitants, have a right to shape it, design it, and operationalize an urban human rights agenda.

We are a national alliance of more than 90 community-based racial, economic, gender and environmental justice organizations growing grassroots power to halt gentrification and displacement, and build democratic, just, and sustainable communities. Our member organizational organize in 45 cities and 26 states to weave together local base-building, organizing, and policy campaigns to defend our neighborhoods and build a robust and unstoppable movement to reclaim, remain in, and rebuild our communities.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The organization seeks to hire an experienced National Organizer of Operations who will be responsible for managing operations coordination, benefits administration, and administrative support. The position will set objectives for the organization and track the progress. The position requires upholding the organizational values in all interactions with staff and external partners. We will be seeking a candidate who will operate with discretion and self-awareness to improve existing processes for the organization and manage processes for employees and larger operations.

WHAT YOU WILL DO IN YOUR ROLE

This position on will enhance the organization's human resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs and practices. This includes:

Operations Coordination

  • Staffing systems development and implementation - phone system
  • Procurement: purchasing support for supplies, equipment, and care materials
  • Office Management: systems development and management to ensure staff are able to move work in conditions that nurture balance, promote effectiveness, and adhere to organizational policies
  • Digital Security - Support in implementation of digital security protocols around file keeping, password and account security

HR Benefits Administration

  • Administer systems for payroll, time tracking, health benefits
  • Annual benefits budgeting
  • Train all staff in time tracking and navigating the Rippling HR system used for payroll and benefits
  • Manage employee benefits and enrollment
  • Craft an effective and intentional candidate experience for recruitment

Regulatory Compliance

  • Liaison with compliance partners
  • Maintain charitable, municipal, state and federal registrations
  • New hire reporting
  • Establish, update and renew insurance policies
  • Insurance audits

Logistics and Administrative Support

Covid Policy Implementation, including:

  • Maintaining covid reporting air table form
  • Sending out calendar events for testing deadlines and links to reporting form
  • Following up with people who haven't tested daily
  • Liaising with Logistics team to disburse covid supplies

REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE

  • Located in the United States
  • Experience as an organizer or activist 
  • 2-4 years of Human Resources or People Operations experience, including benefits administration and leave management
  • Systems thinker – demonstrated experience conceptualizing and implementing systems for increased efficiency and success
  • Experience establishing and building out HRIS system
  • Experience managing COVID protocol and compliance for travel
  • Experience with full cycle recruitment and candidate experience
  • Demonstrable experience with insurance compliance
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable learning new software and systems
  • Self-aware and emotionally intelligent

Helpful but not required:

  • Ability to travel nationally up to 35>#/p###
  • Experience with Rippling HRIS
  • Experience with AirTable

SALARY AND BENEFITS

Salary: $80,000- $110,000 annually

This is a full time EXEMPT position. The salary range starts at $80,000 annually. Compensation is commensurate with experience and competitive with our sector.
