ODNR owns and manages state parks, state forests, state nature preserves and wildlife areas. We license all hunting, fishing and watercraft; oversee and permit all mineral extraction, monitor dam safety, manage water resources and serve as the second largest Law Enforcement presence in the State of Ohio.
We are accepting applications for a part-time permanent Naturalist within the Division of Parks & Watercraft, headquartered at Hocking Hills State Park , assigned to Hocking County . The address is 19852 State Route 664, Logan, Ohio 43138. This position is budgeted for approximately 1400 hours/fiscal year and will work nights/weekends/holidays. Qualifications
18 mos. trg. or 18 mos. exp. in preparing &/or presenting educational materials concerning wildlife & plants; 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in public relations; valid driver’s license.

Ability to: (30m) interpret extensive variety of technical material in books, journals & manuals; (31a) count, do basic addition & subtraction; (31c) comprehend & record figures accurately; (32b) recognize safety warnings; (32l) maintain accurate records; (32r) deal with many variables & determine specific action (plan, market, implement and evaluate programs); (32t) understand & use proper research methods in gathering data; (32u) prepare & deliver nature/wildlife & watercraft/paddling speeches & lectures before the general public; (33e) gather, collate & classify information about data, people, or things; (34d) answer routine inquiries from public & media; (32j) copy material accurately & recognize grammatical & spelling errors; (32v) originate &/or edit articles for publication; (30b) recognize unusual or threatening conditions & take appropriate action; (32k) complete routine forms; (34b) work alone on most tasks; (30h) solve practical everyday problems; (35a) demonstrate dexterity to (move legs & feet to climb hills & walk distances on rough terrain).
