Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to perform paraprofessional tasks and has technical knowledge and comprehension of the agency programs, applications, operations, personnel and organization structure. Manages the drawing submission which can weigh up to 40 pounds for complex projects, assign drawing reviews to the appropriate discipline and tracks projects to verify compliance with various licensing requirements for health care facilities and mandated time frames. Serves as working supervisor.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Performs paraprofessional tasks and has technical knowledge and comprehension of the agency programs, applications, operations, personnel and organization structure.
  2. Serves as working supervisor.
  3. Completes the monthly project fee verification reports and run turn-around time and project status reports at the request of management.
  4. Reviews and evaluates incoming and outgoing documents and files to ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.
  5. Assists with Division’s training program for healthcare facilities.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties identified above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of two years study at a secretarial/business college and one year’s office experience, or, completion of high school and three years Office Assistant experience; or, three years’ independent business experience.
  • Requires the ability to type accurately at 30 words per minute.

Preferred Qualifications

  • One year experience performing paraprofessional tasks.
  • One year experience logging and tracking packets/information.
  • One year experience creating complex reports.
  • Working knowledge of office practice, procedures and programs.
  • One year experience reviewing composition, grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • One year experience serving as a supervisor.
  • One year work experience with Microsoft Products (Access, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • One year experience operating commonly used manual and automated office equipment and performing routine maintenance.

  • Requires possession of a valid drivers license.
  • Requires the ability to travel.
  • Requires the ability to lift 40 lbs.
