MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A high school diploma or its equivalent and one (1) year of experience in an Information Technology environment in computer operations, inventory of computer hardware and software, or maintaining mass production printer equipment and print jobs; or

A high school diploma or its equivalent and completion of a program of study from a vocational/technical school or data processing vendor in an area of data processing (excluding data entry) with a minimum of 720 classroom hours.

College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for the year of required experience in an area of data processing (excluding data entry).

Valid Class E Driver's License required.

NOTES:

This is a part-time, temporary position, not to exceed 24-hours per week.

Successful candidate must pass a Level 2 background screening, including fingerprinting, as a condition of employment.

JOB DUTIES:

Provides support of Windows and other based stationary and portable systems and their peripherals, on a day-to-day basis. Analyzes, tests, and maintains new and existing Windows based systems, printers, scanners, monitors, external drives, cell phones, and all other FDACS approved devices for end users.

Assists with the installation of computer programs, components, peripheral devices, and/or system software. Ensure inventory assets are kept current, security software is installed on every device for which it is appropriate, ensure that reported issues are resolved in a timely manner and report deficiencies to the Data Processing Manager (DIO).

Installs and performs minor repairs to hardware, software, and peripheral equipment following design or installation specifications. Confers with staff, users, and management to determine requirements for job scheduling. Assists with moving hardware to and from users designated work areas for new, replacement and surplus items.

Evaluates and selects desktop vendor packaged software and evaluates custom written packages from both internal and external sources to ensure they meet the business needs of the division.

Assists in the evaluation of new technology products and makes recommendation on technology standards for multiple hardware and operating system platforms.

Communicates effectively with technical and non-technical staff utilizing knowledge of basic data processing terminology and procedure. Performs other related work as requested.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of basic data processing operations, equipment, procedures and workflow.
  • Knowledge of basic terminology and procedures in the areas of data processing.
  • Skill in operating a variety of data processing equipment.
  • Ability to determine priorities.
  • Ability to interpret and respond to computer error messages.
  • Ability to detect data processing equipment malfunctions.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to communicate technical data processing information effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
