Job Description - Paralegal

Paralegal

Office Hours:

  • Monday - Thursday: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm

  • Fridays: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm

Pay: Depending on experience

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our team. As a Paralegal, you will play a crucial role in supporting attorneys and ensuring smooth operations within the legal department. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing affidavits, legal correspondence, and other documents for attorneys.

  • Organizing and maintaining documents in a paper or electronic filing system.

  • Meeting with clients, attorneys, and other professionals to discuss case details.

  • Filing pleadings with the court clerk.

  • Assisting in trial preparation by organizing exhibits and performing other necessary tasks.

  • Drafting briefs, contracts, pleadings, and other legal documents.

  • Conducting investigations into case facts and laws, including searching public records and other resources.

  • Directing and coordinating law office activities, including the delivery of subpoenas.

  • Gathering and analyzing statutes, decisions, legal articles, codes, documents, and other data.

Requirements:

  • Certificate of completion from an approved paralegal certification program or an associate degree in paralegal studies.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Word, and Excel.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to multitask and manage time-sensitive documents.

  • Minimum two years of legal secretary experience, including typing and preparing pleadings such as interrogatories.

  • Ability to function effectively in a busy, team-oriented environment.

  • Prior office administration experience.
