Job Description - Philanthropy Operations Associate

Philanthropy Operations Associate Location: Washington, D.C. (Hybrid/Remote-eligible within the U.S.) Salary: Competitive hourly rate with full-time benefits Are you passionate about making a difference in the world through philanthropy? We're looking for a dedicated Philanthropy Operations Associate to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in supporting our mission to create a more sustainable, peaceful, and just world. As a core member of our Philanthropy team, you'll play a crucial role in donor stewardship, prospect research, and day-to-day team operations. You'll work closely with senior members of the team, including the Associate Vice President and Directors of Individual and Corporate/Foundation Philanthropy, to ensure our fundraising efforts are strategic, effective, and impactful. Key Responsibilities: 1. **Donor Engagement and Stewardship**: Collaborate with the philanthropy team to enhance donor retention and acquisition. This includes managing reporting and tasks in our CRM system, Salesforce. 2. **Administrative Support**: Provide comprehensive administrative support to the Associate Vice President, including scheduling meetings, maintaining the online Board portal, and assisting with appeal content and annual endowment reports. 3. **Prospect Research**: Conduct in-depth research on potential donors to identify and qualify prospects, utilizing donor research software and various financial and media resources. 4. **Event and Meeting Preparation**: Prepare for donor meetings and events by creating bios, pre-meeting briefings, and managing the team calendar. 5. **Stewardship and Gratitude**: Ensure our donors feel valued and appreciated by managing the distribution of stewardship gifts, handwritten thank-you cards, and reports. 6. **Reporting and Data Management**: Create and manage donor reports, ensuring our data is accurate and up-to-date in Salesforce. 7. **Team Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing**: Support the sharing of information and best practices within the philanthropy team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous learning. 8. **General Administrative Duties**: Handle a variety of administrative tasks, including managing email correspondence, gift entry, and general office duties. 9. **Travel and Special Projects**: Be ready to assist with travel arrangements and support special projects as needed. Qualifications: - **Strong Communication Skills**: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential for this role. - **Organizational Prowess**: Able to manage multiple projects and responsibilities simultaneously, with a keen eye for detail. - **Research Expertise**: Experience in conducting thorough research and writing briefs based on findings. - **Professional Integrity**: Demonstrates a high level of professionalism, integrity, and trustworthiness. - **Team Player**: Works well in a team environment and is committed to collaboration and knowledge sharing. - **Technological Proficiency**: Experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Office suite, and database reporting is a plus. - **Flexibility and Adaptability**: Able to adapt to changing priorities and work in a deadline-driven environment. - **Education and Experience**: A bachelor's degree is preferred, with experience in nonprofit fundraising being advantageous but not required.
