Research will be conducted as marketplace design, platform governance design, testing of business models, as well as case studies of actual projects among participating organizations and firms. Output will include both theoretical development and practical application. Research may also inform industrial practice and government policy.
The project will involve the productive use of generative AI tools that require vast amounts of training data that is unlikely to reside within a single organization. The goal for this project is to work with organizations to deploy AI/ML tools using shared data for operational improvement as a mechanism to develop insights into which information governance regimes create the most value for participating organizations.
Salary and Term Information
This is a two-year research position with potential extension (up to 36 months), subject to funding availability, beginning 1 June, 1 July, 1 August or 1 September, 2024. The research fellow will receive an annualized salary of up to $75,000 (paid in monthly installments) plus benefits, $5,000 annually to support computing, travel and research needs, and office space with access to other research needs or equipment.
Qualifications:Applicants must have completed a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Economics, Management Science, Statistics, or equivalent field no earlier than January 1, 2022, and must have their degree in hand by June 30, 2024.
Minimum selection criteria include (1) experience in the literature on economics of information, digitalization, platforms, two-sided networks, industrial information systems, use of generative AI, and decentralized digital architectures; (2) extensive experience in data processing, data science, behavioral science, and econometrics; (3) strong English verbal and written communication skills; (4) strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in collaborative environments, including with stakeholders and other non-technical parties (e.g., industry executives).
We are especially interested in applicants with (1) experience working at or with private sector organizations; (2) experience in translating research findings to implications relevant for businesses, communities, or policy makers; (3) knowledge of or experience in identifying and responding to funding opportunities (i.e. grant writing).
