Job Description - Project Manager II

The Project Manager II at Aqua-Chem is responsible for the delivering projects within budget and schedule while maintaining communication with the customer. Responsible for the delivery of projects as assigned on time and within budget totaling $5-$10M.

Schedule:  FT, Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm

Location: Onsite; Knoxville, TN

Pay Range: Dependent on Experience

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for drawing up the overall project plan and communicating to the project team.
  • Collaborates with multidisciplinary project teams with internal and external experts to assure that customer expectations are met.
  • Leads team meetings with the integrated team beginning with project kick-off through project close.
  • Formally identifies, assesses, monitors, and mitigates risk throughout the project life cycle.
  • Serves as the primary interface with the customer on all matters involving contract execution coordinating with other departments on resolution of contractual problems.
  • Assures that conduct of contract requirements is executed in accordance with appropriate regulations and Company policies and procedures (i.e.: federal acquisition regulations)
  • Responsible for bringing together internal customers and stakeholders any change order requests by customer to establish realistic scheduling and cost adjustments.
  • Works with sales in the communication of any cost or scheduling adjustments due to change orders.
  • Assures a timely closeout of completed projects to ensure that all obligations are satisfied, and program documentation is properly recorded.
  • Monitors the overall project schedules and budgets of all projects under his responsibility and taking appropriate measures in case of deviations to meet the schedule and within budget.
  • Monitors the quality, safety and other requirements set for the realization of the project.
  • Checks and ensures that the commissioning of the installation is coordinated and carried out as specified.
  • Creates the project budget in consultation with sales and engineering.
  • Provides regular updates and reports to the project team on project budget and progress.
  • Completes transfer of the project to the client.
  • Responsible for timely identification of problems (such as budget/planning overruns) and takes action.
  • Responsible for project documentation.
  • Conducts financial management of assigned projects and conducts the project administration. This relates to execution, realization and (possibly) commissioning and time, costs, quality, and information.
  • Proposes new ideas that lead to a more effective and efficient organization of the projects, allowing cost reductions and generating more margin.
  • Performs all activities that are reasonably required by the position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in technical / business / logistics field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Five (5) to ten (10) years of project management experience.
  • Previous internal and external customer service experience.
  • Previous project management experience relating to production / manufacturing preferred.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills with external customer(s), and working within teams.
  • Able to work overtime as required.
