Role:
Assess patient health problems, needs and functions as patient advocate, works closely with supervisor. May advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention, case management, develop, implement and carry out nurse care plans and maintains medical records. This is a licensing position adhering to the Kansas Nurse Practice Act.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Driving: Must have a valid Kansas driver's license and be insurable with the Nation's insurance
Experience : Two years of relatable nursing experience in a hospital, clinic or acute care facility with previous work-related skill, knowledge or experience.
Education: Associate Degree or diploma from an accredited professional nursing education program. Must have an un-restricted Registered Nurse license with the state of Kansas. Must have a current BCLS certification.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS :
- The ability to motivate or influence others is a material part of the job, requiring a significant level of diplomacy and trust. Obtaining cooperation (internally and/or externally) is an important part of the job and a high level of interpersonal skills is critical to the success of this position. Work frequently involves contacts requiring considerable discussion of problems, material presentations, and resolving issues impacting department or divisions.
Knowledge :
- Proficient knowledge with electronic health records and medical software
- Knowledge of clerical procedures and systems such as Microsoft Office word and Excel.
- Knowledge of the English language the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, grammar, and medical terminology.
- Knowledge of computers and office equipment i.e. copiers, scanners, printers, phone systems, 10-key calculator, etc.
- Knowledge of mathematics and nursing pharmacology formulas
- Proficient knowledge of guidelines, requirements, and specifics of a patient population.
- Knowledge of the current Nurse Practice Act for the state of Kansas.
- Maintains current CPR/BLS certification.
- Maintains clinical professional skills via continuing education opportunities.
- Comprehensive knowledge of managing non-compliant patients, special needs populations, and patients with significant deficits in coping skills, thereby requiring continuing professional clinical support.
Skills :
- Must have critical thinking skills using logic and reason to perform necessary procedures quickly and effectively within the health center.
- Time management awareness and organization is imperative to ensure all patients receive care they need in a manner that is most effective.
- Communication skills are exemplary and necessary when it comes to working closely with patients, patient families, doctors, co-workers.
- Active listening and taking time to understand the speaker by not interrupting at inappropriate times.
- Strong organizational skills are mandatory as Nursing is a demanding, fast-paced job where people's health and well-being depends on one's ability to manage information and multi-task.
- Be aware of patients' reactions and understanding why they react as they do.
- Actively looking for ways to help serve patients and assist co-workers.
- Dependable and arrives to work on time.
- Accurate, thorough and monitors own work for quality. Flexible to work methods when a new process or information is implemented with sudden changes in schedules and work requirements.
Abilities :
- Ability to work with minimal instruction from supervisor from training and experience.
- Ability to communicate information in a hectic situation for urgent situations.
- Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
- Able to recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong and be ready to problem solve.
