Job Summary



Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) is seeking an individual to join our HIMS (Health Information Management Services) Coding Team for an exciting and rewarding opportunity as a DCT Coder! This position will perform diagnosis and procedural coding for all DCT services and programs for data retrieval, analysis, statistical reporting, and claims processing. Provide training and education to DCT Medical Staff and other appropriate staff to ensure appropriate documentation and accurate coding. This position will conduct regular audits and coordinate ongoing monitoring of coding accuracy and documentation adequacy.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Perform Diagnosis and Procedural Coding for all DCT services and programs for data retrieval, analysis, and claims processing.
  • Provide training and education to Medical Staff and other appropriate staff to ensure appropriate documentation and accurate coding.
  • Participate in the department’s compliance program regarding appropriate documentation and accurate coding for DCT programs and services.
  • Conduct regular audits and coordinate ongoing monitoring of coding accuracy and documentation adequacy.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician or Registered Health Information Administrator by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience translating, evaluating, and presenting data in a clear and concise manner.
  • Experience working with various software including Electronic Health Record Systems and MS Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to translate and present data to other professionals, including physicians, in a clear concise manner.
  • Knowledge and experience with quality improvement or patient safety.
  • Recent ICD 10-CM coding education or experience.
  • Ability to evaluate and present data to other professionals, including physicians, in a clear concise manner.
