Summary This position serves as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) at the Cheyenne River Service Unit. The purpose of the position is to perform basic technical health care extender functions in response to various emergencies. The incumbent will also be responsible for performing Nursing Assistant and driver duties. Position is subject to "Stand By" duty and will be required to rotate to all shifts. Performs safety and maintenance inspection on emergency and patient transport vehicles and equipment. * Conducts complete assessment using advance knowledge of topographic anatomy, knowledge of major body systems, knowledge of emergency medical techniques. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. For the GS-03 level:Your resume must demonstrate at least Six (6) months of General Experience; that provided a familiarity with the subject matter of the position to be filled. OR Education in place of experience: Successful completion of 1 year of education above high school that included study in medical, health, or related fields. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business or technical school. Or, Combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-03 grade level. For the GS-04 level: Your resume must demonstrate at least 6 months of general experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter of the position to be filled AND 6 months of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-3 grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Experience in a technical or support nature in the field of health and medicine such as, recording height/weight; applying sterile dressings; preparing patients for evaluation and treatment; restocking medical supplies; ensuring that medical equipment is in proper operating condition. OR Education in place of experience: Successful completion of 2 years of study that included at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business or technical school, junior college, college or university for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. One year of full-time undergraduate study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business or technical school.
