Description Position Overview Serves as the database administrator for the library's integrated system. Investigates, recommends, implements, and troubleshoots APIs and other integrations for the purpose of expediting the quality of work within library departments and the user experience with library resources. Responsible for the information technology infrastructure for the library; trains staff on new technologies; provides leadership in solving problems associated with delivery of electronic resources. Researches, evaluates, and recommends methodologies, standards, and software for the creation and preservation of digital collections. Manages any open-source projects and licensing of digital content. Department Specific Essential Job Functions:The University of Central Oklahoma Chambers Library connects the Central community to dynamic resources and services that support transformative learning.
Administer the library’s enterprise integrated library system or ILS (currently Ex Libris’ Alma and Primo), develop API connections with other library systems and software, and assist other campus users of the Alma system. Will also be asked to use existing and future systems to increase access to extensive library and community content that is currently only accessible through mediated assistance by working closely with Archives and Systems staff. This position will be required to complete Alma and Primo certifications in the first three months of employment.
Will work closely with all library departments as well as campus Information Technology departments and other campus entities. In particular, will work closely with the head of Acquisitions, the head of Metadata and Cataloging, and the Web Developer to configure and manage Alma and Primo. This person will have primary responsibility for the fulfillment configurations, user management, and associated integrations. This position will carefully maintain the privacy and confidentiality of patron data in accordance with UCO Office of Information Technology requirements as well as current legal and professional library ethical standards. There will also be some training responsibilities as new libraries and users are onboarded.
The position also requires facilitating communication with vendors via tickets as well as direct contact. The person in this position will be encouraged to actively participate in professional organizations such as the Ex Libris User of North America user group. Will be responsible for offering suggestions for improvements to the ILS software and managing UCO submissions and votes for the annual enhancements cycle for the ILS. As a member of the Systems department, this position will be expected to respond to library user submitted tickets.
The Library Systems Department includes the Innovation Studio makerspace, Metadata and Cataloging, desktop support, website management, and server administration. This position will be expected to work a typical daytime shift Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM but may be asked to work evenings or weekends as needed for library on-call assistance. There is a possibility of remote work one day a week. Applications received by February 28 th will receive priority.
Responsibilities:Requires a Bachelor’s degree in job related field plus 3+ years of relevant experience in the chosen field or 7+ years of equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and concepts.
