The Center for Metastasis Research Excellence (MET-X) is recruiting a Research Administration Manager to help launch, develop, and manage the administrative components of this exciting new program. This position works closely with the MET-X Director to identify program needs and acts independently to research and deliver solutions. This position will report to and receive mentoring from the Program Operations Director with a strong dotted line to the MET-X Director.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The ideal candidate must work independently to develop operational goals, and determine courses of action to accomplish said goals. They will collaborate with PIs and interface with other departments as needed on administrative and strategic planning. They will advise the MET-X Director and on relevant matters, develop effective solutions to administrative issues and provide input to broader program and division planning as needed.

JOB DUTIES

  1. Develop short and long term goals, procure necessary resources and determine courses of action to accomplish goals for the research administration function.
  2. Coordinate and plan all operational aspects of MET-X activities, including but not limited to faculty meetings, research-in-progress meetings and annual retreats.
  3. Coordinate faculty searches, working closely with search committees, HR and division administration.
  4. Oversee pilot fund proposal and awarding activities, working closely with research administrators and administrative departments to ensure timely activation of MET-X pilot funding, monitoring progress, and extensions/financial closeout as appropriate.
  5. Help put together large program grant proposals driven by MET-X members for various metastasis-related funding opportunities.
  6. Manage financial forecasting and budgets for MET-X, including development of related tools, requesting and tracking non-sponsored funding, managing incoming philanthropic funding, approving departmental purchases.
  7. Prepare and disseminate program communications.
  8. Identify general administrative needs and oversee the delivery of related services for the work unit, including office organization, file maintenance, space and resources, service contracts, calendaring, conference and travel arrangements, HR and payroll coordination, etc.
  9. Develop and implement administrative policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in business, public administration or related field or equivalent experience
  • 5+ of progressive experience in research administration and federal grant and contraction administration (NIIH, DOD, NSF, etc.)
  • Strong budgetary, communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage complex activities in a research setting and to work effectively with a variety of people
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Ability to source data from systems and generate customized reports
  • Ability to navigate complex internal systems and departments

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exemplary communication and organizational skills and ability to execute on ideas.
  • Supervisory or mentoring experience
  • Experience developing customized reports to assist with program oversight
  • Experience with award distribution (developing and releasing funding opportunities, application review and award dissemination)

The annual base salary range for this position is from $91,936 to $145,318 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.  

 

This position may be eligible for relocation assistance .
