The Department of Surgery- Miami Transplant has an exciting opportunity for a Research Associate 1, SOM position. The incumbent contributes to the University’s research activities under the supervision of senior staff. Moreover, the incumbent understands, interprets, and complies with research policies and protocols.

Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures.

Participates in the publication of significant results.

Maintains an overview of relevant research findings.

Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice.

Keeps abreast of current publications relative to methods, techniques, and developments within the area of research.

Collects, prepares, analyzes, dissects, and evaluates specimens or tissue cultures.

Operates and maintains laboratory equipment.

Performs a variety of routine assays, tests, and studies.

Performs calculations to complete research test results, collects data, and performs statistical analysis of laboratory results.

Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

• Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM:

Research Associate 1 works directly with Physicians, Clinical Research Coordinator, Research Program Administrator, or Research Nurse, or Principal Investigator to coordinate and/or implement the study and may serve as the point of contact for the external sponsors. Helps to create, evaluate, and abstracts research data and ensures compliance with protocol and research objectives. Responsible for completing case report forms, entering clinical research data, and assist with regulatory submissions to the IRB. Provides limited patient contact with research participants as needed for study and assist with study budget and patient research participant research billing. In addition, the CRA II may coordinate activities, training, and education for other Clinical Research Associates. Ensures compliance with all federal, local, FDA, IRB, and HIPAA guidelines and regulations pertaining to the study and patient care.
