Job Description:
Team Management:
Supervise and lead the pre-award coordinator team.
Provide oversight for the MTA/DUA process.
Run scheduled reporting for updates to master other support documentation for supported units.
Provide training, mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities for coordinator staff.Â
Set team goals, evaluate performance, and provide feedback and additional training to ensure adherence to team standards.
Implementation of Policies/SOPs:
Working directly with the Director of Pre-Award, updated standard operating procedures (SOPs) in alignment with institutional guidelines and federal regulations for procedures directly related to coordinator duties.
Regularly review and update policies to ensure compliance with evolving regulations and best practices.
Provide feedback to the Director of Pre-Award on policies and opportunities for process improvement to streamline pre-award processes and team efficiency.Â
Portfolio Management:
Works with faculty and staff to identify, prepare, and submit grant applications to federal and private sources and secure sponsored funding from federal and local granting agencies as well as foundations.
Assists in the timely submission of required annual reports and continuation applications.
Leads complex proposal submissions within assigned portfolio.
Unit Reviews:
Conduct divisional review of proposals routed within the divisional research administration office. Identify changes required for compliance with divisional and institutional best practices and policies.
Provide feedback to the administrator on the proposal to provide immediate and practical instruction on areas for improvement.
Based on patterns seen within reviews, communicate to the Director suggested enhancements to SOPs or additional training that may be needed for the pre-award team.
Other:
Supervises employees that provides specialized support for the research enterprise within a department or unit, including pre-award administration for all sponsored activity. Serves as liaison between PIs, University administrative offices, and external agencies.
Supervises employees directly including selection, training, performance appraisal and work allocation. Ensures service and communication to PIs, standardized information, best practices development, and that all faculty and research staff are aware of any new grant policies and changes.
Monitors industry trends and remains current with agency and regulatory changes. Plans for department/ unit compliance with University, Divisional and Department policies and procedures and implements corrective actions for issues identified.
Performs other related work as needed.
