Job Summary The Student Government Association (SGA) at Missouri Western is committed to being an advocate for the student body, enhancing campus life and promoting the image of the University. We lead with integrity, listening to the students and serving Missouri Western State University. The SGA Director of Public Relations is an appointed position. The role is to focus on positive branding of the SGA.
- PARTICIPATING in the fulfillment of the University's mission & values: service, quality, enthusiasm, freedom, respect, & courage.
- ADVOCATING for the views of the student body by working with the University administration to formulate University policy & by serving as members on University committees.
- FACILITATING communication & mutual understanding between the Student Association, faculty, staff, & administration.
Essential Duties - Maintains sufficient knowledge of media creation software (i.e., Photoshop, Premiere Pro, etc.) to perform the duties of this role.
- Creates promotional materials for SGA (i.e., Posters, T-shirt designs, advertising designs, etc.)
- Formulates and executes a strong brand strategy for the promotion of SGA and its operations
- Coordinates with SGA President and Vice President and members of the Executive Board to promote, publicize and communicate information relevant to the operations of the SGA and branches
- Develops a strategic calendar of all public relations efforts for greater planning and coordination of promotional efforts
- Maintains positive relationships and effective communication with outside media organizations (i.e., Griffon Media, Saint Joseph News-Press, etc.).
- Maintains all official SGA communication channels (i.e., email, social media, website, etc.)
- Ensures brand consistency
- Other duties as assigned by the SGA President or Vice President
Required Qualifications - MWSU Student
- Degree Seeking
- At least a cumulative 2.0 GPA
- Enrolled full-time
- Must be in good disciplinary standing with the University and remain so during their term of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - An enrolled college student who shows interest and a positive attitude and leadership.
- Must have a willingness to interact with people, and ability to keep confidentiality.
- Must be able to handle professional situations, be attentive to other students and be punctual.
- Strong communicator, empathetic, and good time management skills
Physical Demands Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Additional Demands The SGA Senate meets throughout the school year to discuss issues relevant to students and vote on legislation to solve the issues presented
