Position Overview

The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire a Southern Region Quality Coordinator. The Southern Region Quality Coordinator will p erform Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Development, project coordination and supervision of staff assigned to quality monitoring for assigned State Operated Psychiatric Hospitals (SOPH’s) . The Southern Region Quality Coordinator will c ollaborate with hospital quality managers to verify that services to persons with mental illness meet professional/accreditation/regulatory standards. As the State Mental Health Authority, the Division is responsible for ensuring that Illinois children, adolescents and adults living with serious mental illness, emotional disturbance or an impaired level of functioning have access to publicly funded mental health services.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Serves as Southern Region Quality Coordinator. Performs Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Development, project coordination and supervision of staff assigned to quality monitoring for assigned State Operated Psychiatric Hospitals (SOPH’s).
  2. Collaborates with hospital quality managers to verify that services to persons with mental illness meet professional/accreditation/regulatory standards.
  3. Serves as full-line supervisor.
  4. Assigns staff to present project reports to bureau, division and hospital administrative staff.
  5. Assigns staff to write planning documents.
  6. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college.
  2. Requires three (3) years progressively responsible administrative experience in a health or human services organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Four (4) years of professional administrative experience performing quality control assessments and monitoring activities for a public or private business organization, generating corresponding statistical and/or written reports, and recommending and implementing policy changes because of those activities.
  2. Four (4) years of professional experience performing data and statistical analysis, assessments, and monitoring for a public or private business organization.
  3. Four (4) years of professional experience in the review and understanding of the mental health code and various accreditation and certification requirements.
  4. Three (3) years of professional administrative experience meeting deadlines with strong attention to detail and the ability to utilize critical thinking skills while multi-tasking multiple projects.
  5. Three (3) years of professional experience interacting with and communicating in oral and written form with internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Three (3) years of professional supervisory experience assigning work, providing guidance to subordinates, recommending counseling and/or discipline following collective bargaining agreements, training staff, approving time off, and preparing and signing performance evaluations.

Conditions of Employment

  1. Requires the ability to travel.
  2. Requires ability to pass the IDHS background check.
  3. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
