Republic Services’ strategy is designed to generate profitable growth. Through acquisitions and industry advancements, we safely and sustainably manage our customers’ multiple waste streams through a North American footprint of vertically integrated assets.

We focus on three areas of growth to meet the increasing needs of our customers: recycling and waste, environmental solutions and sustainability innovation.

With our integrated approach, strengthening our position in one area advances other areas of our business. For example, as we grow volume in recycling and waste, we collect additional material to bolster our circularity capabilities. Recycling and Waste

We continue to expand our recycling and waste business footprint throughout North America through organic growth and targeted acquisitions. The 13 million customers we serve and our more than 5 million pick-ups per day provide us with a distinct advantage. We aggregate materials at scale, unlocking new opportunities for advanced recycling. In addition, we are cross-selling new products and services to better meet our customers’ specific needs.

Environmental Solutions

Our comprehensive environmental solutions capabilities help customers safely manage their most technical waste streams. We are expanding both our capabilities and our geographic footprint. We see strong growth opportunities for our offerings, including PFAS remediation, an increasing customer need.

SUSTAINABILITY INNOVATION

Republic’s recent innovations to advance circularity and decarbonization demonstrate our unique ability to leverage sustainability as a platform for growth.

The Republic Services Polymer Center is the nation’s first integrated plastics recycling facility. This innovative site processes rigid plastics from our recycling centers, producing recycled materials that promote true bottle-to-bottle circularity. We also formed Blue Polymers, a joint venture with Ravago, to develop facilities that will further process plastic material from our Polymer Centers to help meet the growing demand for sustainable packaging. We are building a network of Polymer Centers and Blue Polymer facilities across North America.

We continue to advance decarbonization at our landfills. As demand for renewable energy continues to grow, we have 70 landfill gas-to-energy projects in operation and plan to expand our portfolio to 115 projects by 2028.

POSITION SUMMARY : This Senior Database Administrator position will be responsible for managing database code, peer reviewing other developers’ work, index strategy, query tuning, and enforcing database system standards. The Sr. DBA will work closely with various development team members in an Agile environment to design and consult on new and existing systems for performance and reliability. As part of a team of database professionals, the Sr. DBA will help maintain and improve Republic Services’ 250+ database servers.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES :

+ Ensure that new database code meets company standards for readability, reliability, and performance.

+ Peer-review code from other developers and approve/maintain code in a versioned code repository.

+ Assist ETL , Report, and other developers to improve the performance of their database code.

+ Review resource-intensive queries on the server and suggest ways to improve efficiency.

+ Design indexes for existing applications, choosing when to add or remove indexes.

+ Advise developers on the most efficient database designs (tables, datatypes, stored procedures, functions, etc.).

+ Write and improve SQL Server T- SQL queries, stored procedures, views, and functions.

+ Use tools and DMV queries to answer questions about index usage and code performance.Provide guidance and leadership for other team and department members.Perform other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.

QUALIFICATIONS :

+ Performance Tuning, Query Execution Plans, Stored Procedures, T- SQL , PL/ SQL , Data Warehousing, and DBMS internals.

+ SQL Server 2012 and higher on virtualized platforms.

+ Database architectural design and performance assessments.

+ Windows Server 2008 R2 and higher.

+ Possess expert knowledge of the entire Software Development Lifecycle ( SDLC ).

+ Capable of prioritizing and managing assignments, tasks, and significant projects to completion with minimal supervision.

+ Ability to create and maintain documentation of development standards in use at Republic Services.

+ Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedures manuals.

+ Ability to work in a team and individually in a project environment.

+ Ability to interact with IT personnel on all levels to resolve issues and provide solutions in a timely manner.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

+ Bachelors degree or higher in Information Technology or related field of study.

+ Minimum 5 years applicable experience with the following: development and support in multiple database systems such as SQL Server, Oracle, and mysql.
