Job Description - Systems Administrator I

Job Title: Systems Administrator

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Systems Administrator to join our IT team. This role is instrumental in managing and ensuring the optimal functioning of our IT infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including providing Level II-III support for our helpdesk, maintaining servers and networks, and ensuring data integrity and security through regular updates, patches, and backups. This candidate should be able to work independently and exhibit strong leadership in managing IT operations. As a global organization, we require flexibility to work after hours when needed to support our international operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain all IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and hardware.
  • Collaborate with the team to manage configuration and troubleshooting of systems and network devices.
  • Provide Level II support for helpdesk operations, resolving complex technical issues.
  • Perform regular Server OS and application updates, patches, and backups.
  • Monitor system performance to ensure reliability and availability.
  • Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems.
  • Ensure data recovery processes are in place through robust IT infrastructure backups.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of IT infrastructure, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reporting on system performance, security incidents, and other key metrics.
  • Assist in the development and enforcement of IT policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments to understand and address their IT needs.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution.
  • Train and mentor junior IT staff.
  • Provide after-hours support to ensure seamless operations across global time zones.
  • Travel 30-40% of the time to support our global operations.
  • Flexibility to work after hours and weekends as needed to support global operations.

Understanding Cybersecurity Risks:

  • Stay informed about emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and attack vectors.
  • Monitor desktop systems and network traffic for suspicious activity, malware infections, or unauthorized access attempts.
  • Respond promptly to security incidents or breaches involving desktop systems.
  • Document incident details and report findings to the cybersecurity team and management.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a systems administration role with increasing responsibility.
  • Advanced knowledge of network design, configuration, and security principles.
  • Extensive experience in server management, including patching and OS upgrades.
  • Proficiency with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Strong understanding of cloud platforms and services (e.g., Entra ID, Azure).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, or similar are highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead IT projects and initiatives.

Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with database management and administration.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python) for automation.
  • Knowledge of ITIL best practices and frameworks.

EFC International currently operates with a hybrid schedule of four days in office and one day remote.

Flexibility is available.

Travel and Expense Policy: Employees are expected to cover all expenses incurred during business trips using their personal funds. These expenses include, but are not limited to, transportation, accommodation, meals, and other incidentals. Upon completion of the trip, employees must submit detailed receipts and an expense report for reimbursement. Reimbursement will be processed in accordance with the company's travel and expense policy.
