Job Description - Technical Documentation Specialist

Technical Documentation Specialist Location Saint Inigoes, MD :

The selected candidate will have the following duties and responsibilities: Performs administrative and record keeping tasks related to engineering and technical projects and programs. Applies knowledge of office management, methods, and procedures in producing and maintaining documentation, correspondence, records, or directives. Typical duties include: assisting in a variety of administrative matters, maintaining a wide variety of records (stored electronically), verifying statistical reports for accuracy and completeness, and compiling information. Processes new and/or revised Technical Documentation to include, but is not limited to Engineering Drawings, Trouble Reports (TRs), Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) and other documentation that requires configuration control by entering them into appropriate database for tracking purposes and maintaining positive control for timely routing for review by the appropriate team members. Processes final Engineering Drawings, TRs and ECOs, creates pdf files, and enters files into ADEPT database, reviewing technical data and submitting document status reports to program management as required. Tracks Engineering Drawings, TRs and ECOs associated with all Air Traffic Control & Landing Systems. Updates ECO/TR databases, creates pdf files from Microsoft Word docs and/or scans and performs electronic filing of documents by appropriate system. Updates ECO/TR database lists for all contracts/systems and provides TR metric reports showing required information, including number of TRs that were submitted during the reporting week, status, priority, etc. Requests document status updates from reviewers and communicating status changes with program management as necessary. Will be required to perform additional responsibilities as assigned and assist other team members as tasked. Local travel may be required. This position is located in scenic and historic Southern Maryland in the St. Mary's County Technology Corridor adjacent to the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. There is no monetary relocation assistance budgeted for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to St. Mary's County, Maryland or surrounding areas. Required Education, Experience, & Skills Associate degree from an accredited school and two years of experience (an additional four years of experience may be substituted for the degree) Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel) Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills Ability to file and organize hard and/or soft copies of technical documents Ability to create ad hoc reports from various databases as required/requested Ability to record meeting minutes and action items Ability to work both independently and in a team environment Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Familiarity with Air Traffic Control & Landing Systems Proficiency with Microsoft Access Proficiency with Adept or other file management system Pay Information Full-Time Salary Range: $52140 - $88660 Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
