Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Oncology team on a temporary basis. As an RN in Oncology, you will play a critical role in providing specialized nursing care to patients with cancer diagnoses. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in oncology nursing, strong clinical skills, and a commitment to delivering comprehensive and compassionate care to patients undergoing cancer treatment.
Responsibilities:
- Assess patients' physical, emotional, and psychosocial needs upon admission and throughout their cancer treatment, collaborating with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Administer chemotherapy, biotherapy, and other cancer treatments as prescribed by physicians, following established protocols and guidelines for safe medication administration.
- Monitor patients' response to treatment and changes in condition, communicating with the healthcare team to adjust care plans and interventions as needed.
- Educate patients and families about their cancer diagnosis, treatment options, side effects, and supportive care measures, providing emotional support and guidance throughout the cancer journey.
- Coordinate with physicians, nurse practitioners, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for oncology patients.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and in compliance with regulatory requirements, using electronic medical records systems.
- Adhere to infection control protocols, safety guidelines, and organizational policies to maintain a safe and supportive environment for patients and staff.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research projects, and staff education activities to promote excellence in oncology nursing practice.
Qualifications:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
- Minimum of two years of clinical nursing experience, with experience in oncology nursing preferred.
- Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) or willingness to obtain certification within one year of hire.
- Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and complex patient cases.
