Job Description - Training Specialist


SERV, a well-established leader in behavioral healthcare in New Jersey, supports people with mental illness and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities as they achieve greater independence and life satisfaction through a wide range of services. A Training Specialist is a part of the SERV Training team and supports the goals and requirements for training/development within the organization. This position will be involved in providing operational based training content at various SERV locations on a variety of topics as directed. Additional duties will include assisting in coordinating training programs/events, assist in e-learning implementation, provide support in reporting functions, monitor workforce fluctuations that influence staff training requirements and assist with various administrative duties related to the creation/delivery/training of training programs at SERV. Education and Experience:
Minimum of an Associate's degree (Bachelor's preferred) and at least two years of applicable experience in administrating programs/events, public speaking/presentations, tracking/inputting data (with attention to detail), providing internal customer service and use of digital platforms or LMS; experience in a healthcare setting preferred Certificates, Licenses, Registrations :
Valid driver’s license in the state of residence plus three-year driving history and a driving record in good standing at the time of hire. Knowledge, Skill and Ability:
Excellent presentation, communication and verbal skills. High level of competency with MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and other related technology. Must be able to function as part of a team providing a high level of quality service with attention to d tail. Strong customer service orientation and abil1ty to follow through issues to resolution. Detail oriented, strong organizational skills. Ability to learn and understand organization's model of service delivery and processes/terminology. Ability to use sound instructional design principles to enhance trainings/presentations. Capable of providing formal and informal implementation guidance, integration, .and change management support tasks in a dynamic  and interpersonal setting to support functional users requiring assistance. Physical Requirements:
Ability to bend and reach during an eight-hour day. Able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds. Has the visually and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate information and maintain accurate records. Fine motor skills for legible and accurate writing of reports, daily correspondences and presentation either manually or orally. Position requires constant use of a keyboard, prolonged standing and speaking. Ability to work an eight-hour day. Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Demonstrates knowledge of State and Federal regulatory requirements
  • Works in conjunction with members of the training department to ensure training compliance with all required regulatory requirements and SERV policy
  • Coordinates training schedule/calendar, including new hire orientation, annual and ongoing trainings; ensures there are qualified trainers available and scheduled for each training course.
  • Tracks all training attendance and cancellations.
  • Responsible for all Learning Management System (LMS) administration duties, including, acting as the LMS administrator, updating the LMS system as needed, developing/revising training plans, troubleshooting issues, scheduling employees, reporting and data collection/distribution, and monitoring training compliance.
  • Responsible for booking and setting up classroom and training venues
  • Coordinates training resources and opportunities in conjunction with the Training Coordinator
  • Assists in the development of effective programs, with the aim of attaining SERV training department operational goals
  • Manages the training record keeping system to track employee training participation and progress
  • Communicates with SERV management regarding upcoming training schedules, employee expirations, and overall training compliance
  • Manages the Training Department email box.
  • Maintains all training documentation and records in an organized manner.
  • Assists in other administrative a n d accounts receivable· tas k s associated with SERV training programs
  • Serves as a point of contact for vendors and employees of SERV
  • Submits reports on training activities and results, as assigned by the Senior Director of Training
  • Prepares and disseminates training materials 1 including. handouts, evaluation forms, visual aids and presentations for new hire orientation and ongoing trainings:
  • Other duties as assigned or as needed to meet departmental or organizational goals.
