SUMMARY:
Provides immediate and on-going assistance to Native Americans victims of crime including domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, and others in the Northeast Kansas area. Conduct telephone and in-person follow-up with victims; provide support, information and assistance to victims as their case moves through the criminal justice process and beyond; assists victims with identifying needs created or not being met as a consequence of the crime and assists the victim with finding and accessing resources to meet stated needs; provides case management and advocacy.
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all minimum requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or three to five years of experience working with domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking and other victims of crime.
- Must have a valid Kansas driver's license and be insurable with the Nation's insurance within 30 days from hire.
- Must possess knowledge of: Tribal, State, and Federal Laws
- Must possess knowledge in procedures of criminal justice agencies as they affect the responsibilities and rights of victims and witnesses of crimes
- Must possess knowledge in conflict mediation, crisis intervention, and counseling techniques
- Must possess knowledge in community resources available for social, medical, and economic assistance
- Must possess knowledge in data collection, case documentation and report writing
- Must possess ability to communicate professionally; both orally and in writing a service-orientated approach, sometimes in stressful circumstances
- Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
- Must possess professional work ethics, manner, and appearance
- Must possess the ability to operate general office equipment.
