Underground Equipment/Directional Drill Operator

TekCom Resources is seeking an  Underground Equipment/Directional Drill Operator for a full-time, permanent-hire role with our telecom construction client in the Wausau, Wisconsin area!As an Underground Equipment/Directional Drill Operator, you will operate heavy equipment necessary for underground fiber installation - i.e. plowing, installing duct, pulling fiber and burying drops. Candidates MUST have directional drilling experience to be considered for this role.  This work is focused on mostly rural construction, so your work will take you up to 2 hours outside of Wausau, but overnight travel is not a typical part of this role.  Your duties will include:
• Safely and effectively operate Directional Drill/underground equipment for the purpose of installing fiber optics infrastructure.
• Assist with location and verification of utilities prior to work.
• Help keep projects on schedule and ensure quality of underground installation work meets company standards.
• Participate in the maintenance of an organized warehouse and "yard."
• Communicate with customers on potential issues and pass that feedback along to Foreman or Construction Coordinator. Our client would like to see this experience in your background: • At least 1-2 years of underground construction experience; utilities construction experience unrelated to telecom, such as gas, power and water line installation, is relevant and welcome for this role!
• Supervisory experience is not required but is highly valuable.
• CDL licensure is VERY valuable for this role and typically raises the pay rate you are eligible for by $2 per hour. Key Terms:
