Position Summary

As a ComArtSci HR Administrator you would be responsible for HR functions related to the employment life cycle for all employees within our college. You would be a valuable member of the ComArtSci’s centralized human resources team, regularly collaborating and connecting with various teams and departments within the college and across the university to facilitate HR functions and processes including recruitment, hiring, onboarding/offboarding, training and professional development, employee recognition/appreciation, and retention. 

The ComArtSci HR team impacts and directly contributes to a positive work environment that employees want to be a part of; through creation and implementation of programs that ensure a safe and respectful work environment with equitable and inclusive practices.  

ComArtSci is home to five academic units, the dean’s office, and one service unit (WKAR), with 500+ employees, and 3,000+ students who choose ComArtSci as their home away from home.  

As the ComArtSci HR Administrator you will enjoy a variety of tasks and projects including but not limited to: 

  • Administer and coordinate recruitment and search processes 

  • Advise search committees on best practices, hiring decisions, and offer negotiation 

  • Assess and implement recruitment and placement practices to ensure robust diverse talent pools 

  • Interview prospective employees 

  • Coordinate ComArtSci New Employee Orientation programs 

  • Maintain performance and probationary timelines and materials 

  • Advise on employment law, ComArtSci and university policy and procedure, as well as various bargaining agreements 

  • Identify training needs and opportunities  

  • Develop and conduct training plans and programs 

  • Develop and maintain employee recognition and appreciation programs 

  • Conduct all onboarding and offboarding practices 

  • Contribute, assess, and advise on opportunities for improvement 

This position has the opportunity for a hybrid working schedule based on the needs of the organization. 

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

  • Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field, or a field related to the employing unit
  • Three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in managing human resource functions, designing and implementing training programs and human resource/labor relations management and computer applications 
  • Three years of recruitment experience  
  • Experience leading multiple tasks and projects
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders of all levels
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Desired Qualifications

  • 3 years or more experience recruiting and hiring various employee types: faculty & academic staff, support staff, temporary and on-call staff, and student employees.  

  • Higher education human resources experience. 

  • Three years or more experience in an HR generalist role. 

  • Experience using PageUp or similar applicant tracking systems.

  • Proactive approach to recruiting and retaining high-quality talent. 

  • Creative and energetic approach to engaging and recognizing employees.

  • Experience using utilization metrics and reporting to ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion practices are consistently maintained.

  • Experience writing position descriptions and position advertisements.
