Plumb Company Overview

Plumb provides Family Office Accounting/Bill Pay services (PlumbBillPay.com). We have 50+ employees. Our 13 Principles are who we are, or at least who we strive to be, ( Our clients are Ultra High Net Worth Individuals around the United States and some abroad. We are NOT Financial Advisors, rather, we tend to do all of the back-office accounting services and provide our clients and their advisors reporting and services.

Position Description

  • Profitability of our Operations/Services: We are achieving consistent solid margins for our industry. Those margins should increase as we continue automating functions through our internally developed software platform. With that being said, there is still (much) room for more standardized processes.
  • Our Ability to Handle Rapid Growth: In the past we have had to throttle our growth due to inconsistent staffing and processes. Better processes, coupled with consistent training and milestone achievement will help us increase our growth potential by 3X-4X.
  • Minimizing Risk: We manage a large volume of financial transactions for our clients and are finalizing our SOC II Type I certification. Our processes need to be followed to ensure we do not jeopardize the accuracy of our clients’ transactions.
  • Maintaining High Client and Advisor Referral Satisfaction: We are a preferred vendor for a variety of national wealth management firms, and it is key that each client is catered to and has an overwhelmingly positive experience with our service, our reporting, and our processing.
  • Change Management: As we continue automating functions with our software platform, our team members will need retraining to adopt new skillsets and leverage the new automation tools they have at their disposal.

  • Internal software development team automating various components of our operations’ delivery system.

I am looking for a leader that can join our team and give me their all for the next four to five years. I use this timeframe because anything beyond that is unknown with the pace of change happening in our space and in business in general. We are at a precipice as a company. Our past was steeped in doing onsite Controller work with companies throughout Southern California. Our future is that of a Fintech providing a variety of accounting services within the High Net Worth Individual/Family niche throughout the nation.

We have developed our own software platform/app and are expanding its features significantly over the next two years. As these features are released, it will give us the opportunity to continually streamline our internal processes and retrain our workforce to leverage this powerful tool to provide more insightful services to our client base.

I realize that many job descriptions can turn into a unicorn description, but this time that may be accurate. This position is critical to our future success.

Skillsets and Recommended Requirements

I typically outline a great deal of skillsets. If you are an operations person, I am sure the listing of those skillsets would be redundant. The only item I will mention is a solid understanding of accounting and financial reporting is probably best for this position. If you do not possess this, but think you are still a fit, I am open to hearing from you.

Next Steps

Compensation Range and Additional Information: The base salary range is $125,000 - $175,000, with a significant bonus on top of this. The position can be onsite or remote, though I would prefer them to work out of our La Jolla office. We are an equal opportunity employer.
