Job Description - Volunteer Coordinator

FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE Performs a variety of duties related to recruiting, training, and providing resources and support to school Volunteer Coordinators across the WS/FCS district. This position is responsible for outreach efforts that educate the community on the volunteer needs across the district and cultivates an effective volunteer workforce that helps to meet those needs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides high quality customer service to volunteers.
  • Serves as the clearinghouse for volunteer activities for all WS/FCS and provides a single point of entry and easy access into the district for private, public, non-profit, and faith-based organizations.
  • Supports the implementation and recommendation of the district Volunteer Screening Policy and Regulations, including background checks.
  • Remains informed of current state and federal laws that apply to volunteer services.
  • Assists with the evaluation of the need for volunteer services within the district.
  • Assists in the creation and helps to maintain volunteer program materials (policies and procedures, applications, volunteer agreements, and orientation handbooks).
  • Collaborates with the Accountability Services Department to track volunteer statistics and satisfaction.
  • Assists in goal development for volunteer services and monitor progress toward goal achievement.
  • Provides recognition resources for district volunteer recognition annually.
  • Maintains the online volunteer resource kit for volunteer coordinators to include training materials, safety videos, and other resources.
  • Provides quarterly online check-ins for school volunteer coordinators.
  • Serves as a consultant to schools and departments in areas related to volunteers.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.

  • Skill in using Microsoft Office, including Work, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
  • Required: High School Graduate and 2- year certificate or related field and two years-experience in administrative work, volunteerism and/or school-based community building initiatives; OR
Professional experience working with community program management and/or volunteerism initiatives within WS/FCS and/or local organizations in the Forsyth County region
  • Desirable: Proven track record on exceptional customer service
