Job Description



AECOM  is seeking a creative and highly motivated Architectural Designer to be based in our Boston, MA office. We provide a wide range of architectural & engineering services to support national defense-related programs throughout the US and internationally.

In this role the successful candidate will apply their experience towards complex building designs such as simulator facilities, radar and tactical support facilities, administrative, operation and maintenance facilities to large campus style projects with multiple buildings.

The role of a Designer at AECOM is diverse and encompasses combining creativity and technical knowledge and understanding to produce sustainably, aesthetically, functional, high-performing architectural solutions which align with and support clients' goals and values. The Designer will be an integral part of the project team and the studio, working under the general supervision of a Practice Leader and/or Project Manager and in collaboration with peer designers and technical professionals.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in developing creative and coherent approaches and design solutions to a wide range of complex problems.
  • Prepare concept plans and 3D renderings.
  • Assist in preparing project presentations.
  • Prepare construction documents at all phases of project design.
  • Develop solutions for a wide range of difficult technical problems and interdisciplinary issues within established project budgets.
  • Develop construction details.
  • Adapt and modify design features under supervision of a Project Manager to meet project specifications.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines during design and construction activities.
  • Work with Revit, AutoCAD and SketchUp skills.
  • Communicate effectively. 

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in architecture or related field + 2 years of demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Experience in Revit and BIM.
  • Experience in SketchUp and Photoshop.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office, InDesign, and software such as Rhino, or other visualization tools.
  • Due to the nature of this work, candidate must be a sole U.S. Citizen.

Preferred

Qualifications

  • Past experience with DoD or related projects.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, standards, building construction, and building structures including codes pertinent to transit projects
  • Proficiency in Illustrator.
  • Affinity with developing details and experience in construction documents.
  • Experience particularly with cloud based multi-phased multipackage delivery.
  • Willingness to be client facing and participate in client discussions and charrettes.
  • Willingness to travel.

  • Offered rate of compensation (MA locations only) will be based on individual education,

    , experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $61,143.89 -$84,072.85.
