We are seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist to support the National Institutes of Health’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) in support of the overall functions of the Laboratory of Immune System Biology (LISB) . Our NIAID professional, technical, and scientific support personnel are part of a team focused on positively impacting millions of lives around the world.   • Perform computational analysis, integration, and modeling of diverse data sets, to include microarray, bulk and single-cell RNAseq, ATAC-seq, flow and CyTOF phenotyping, serum proteome, SNP genotyping, and microbiome profiling.
  • Perform “Bottom up” dynamical modeling, for example, starting from networks of molecular/cellular interactions.
  • Serve as liaison with NIH/NIAID IT and high-performance computing teams to set up, develop, and maintain necessary computational infrastructure and tools for research.
  • Prepare scientific manuscripts and keep detailed records of research, experiments, and results.
  • Prepare scientific presentations/posters, and present data to other scientists.

 

  • PhD. in computational biology, statistics, bioinformatics, systems biology, biophysics, or relevant disciplines with hands-on research experience with bioinformatics and the analysis and modeling of large-scale data sets.
  • One year of research experience in genomics is required (post-doctoral time qualifies).
  • Experienced knowledge of statistics and quantitative modeling.
  • Solid computer programming skills (proficiency in R is a plus).
  • Solid experience with database design and construction, and dynamical system theory and modeling is a plus.
  • Proficiency in C/C++ and/or Java as well as experience with multiple OS platforms (Windows, MAC, Linux) is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Able to prioritize o Work in both a team setting and independently.
