Date Revised: 05/2024Primary Purpose:
Coordinate and assist planning and construction departments in managing bond projects including new construction and renovations and additions to existing facilities. Lead our efforts to create innovative, functional, and student-centered educational facilities that support the evolving needs of our rapidly growing school district including space allocation and monitor building utilization for of all campuses. facilities Oversee the district’s design guidelines and specifications and any revisions that are necessary. Managing the district’s furniture standards as well as provide oversight and management of furniture replacement and installation. Participate, present, and engage in district leadership meetings. Major Responsibilities & Duties:
Maintain the District Technical District Guidelines and Education Specification.
Act as a liaison between department and vendors, including but not limited to architects, general contractors, and consultants.
Manage campus learning environments and assist campus administration in creating and renovation learning spaces in response to programmatic growth.
Coordinate the selection, procurement, and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment for classrooms, common areas, and specialized instructional spaces, prioritizing ergonomic design, durability, and adaptability to support diverse teaching and learning needs.
Manage district GIS database.
Act as a liaison between department vendors and campus staff.
Coordinate moves and storage solutions for campuses.
Stay informed about relevant regulations, guidelines, and industry standards related to architectural design, construction, and facility management, ensuring adherence to best practices.
Stay current with trends and innovations in educational facility design, attending conferences, workshops, and professional development opportunities to enhance expertise and share knowledge with colleagues.
Develop and manage budgets for architectural planning, construction projects, and furniture procurement, ensuring cost-effective solutions that align with district priorities and fiscal constraints.
Review and direct executed contracts.
Approve and direct all bids/estimates submitted to department.
Approve and direct all invoices submitted to department for payment.
Plan and manage small-scale growth projects.
Review and prepare floorplans, including markups and room numbering.
Coordinate site visits with department vendors.
Assist in managing documents for permits and inspections.
Assist in managing easements.
Assist in organizing documents requiring Board approval.
Coordinate site visits with department vendors.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in architecture, interior design, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in architectural planning, facility design, or construction management, with at least 3 years of experience in educational facility design preferred.
Excellent project management skills, with the ability to oversee multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines within budget constraints.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
Knowledge of Texas building codes, accessibility standards, and educational facility guidelines preferred.
Knowledge of project planning, space planning concepts, and construction principles.
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to follow written instructions.
Proficiency in Windows Office Platform and Google Docs.
Knowledge and understanding of school district policies.
Knowledge and understanding of school district financial procedures.
Successful experience in an office setting, specifically in either school district and/or construction related field.
