Job Description - Electrical System Engineer

Electrical System Engineer Location Waynesboro, GA :

Electrical Systems Engineer - Plant Vogtle 3&4

Southern Nuclear Operating Company's Plant Vogtle 3&4 Site Engineering organization is seeking a high performing Electrical Engineer with an analytical mindset and strong technical and leadership skills to support commissioning and operation of the next generation nuclear power station. This position will be located at Southern Nuclear Company's Plant Vogtle in Waynesboro, Georgia.

Job Summary

This position is assigned to the Site System Engineering organization and is part of the Operational Readiness organization at the Vogtle 3&4 site. This position will provide electrical engineering support for establishing the organization necessary for successfully operating the new units following construction. The Electrical Engineer will also be tasked with establishing processes necessary to ensure safe and reliable operation of the new units following construction.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Obtain Engineering Programs qualifications and support development and implementation of fleet programs for Vogtle 3&4.
  • Obtain Engineering Systems qualifications to support turnover of the systems and ensure a successful transition to Operation.
  • Provide electrical engineering support for the Operational Readiness department and for ITAAC Completion Reviews
  • Develop and maintain technical knowledge regarding AP1000 electrical systems and equipment design
  • Support development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, processes, and procedures as they relate to electrical systems
  • Participate in industry groups (EPRI, IEEE, NEI, etc.) supporting electrical systems

Requirements:

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university or a PE (Professional Engineer) license is required (Engineering Technology will not be accepted)
  • Electrical Engineering degree strongly preferred
  • EIT/FE or Professional Engineer Registration is desired

Job Requirements:

  • Commercial nuclear power plant experience in systems and/or programs engineering is desired
  • Knowledge and understanding commercial nuclear power plant regulations, codes, and standards is desired
  • 3 years engineering experience in Electrical Systems is desired
  • 3 years nuclear power plant related engineering experience is preferred
