About the Department

The Marketing and Communications Department set our brand tone. They construct and magnify stories and messages to help and inspire people through running, across advertising, media, brand strategy, creative materials, video, photography, race broadcasts, editorial, brand presentations, and multiple web and digital platforms. They connect with the world's best athletes and ambassadors to deepen NYRR's mission. They leverage channels ranging from international broadcasts to screens at our NYRR RUNCENTER, individual emails to mass media, and from digital journeys to race day signage. The Marketing and Communications team connects NYRR's initiatives and innovations to the hearts and minds of our community, inspiring them to run for life.

 

The NYRR Broadcast Team oversees the production and distribution of all NYRR event broadcasts and livestreams, including the nationally televised TCS New York City Marathon and New Balance 5th Avenue Mile. Additionally, the team serves as the primary liaison between NYRR and its broadcast partners and production companies, manages the licensing of footage and access to all NYRR events and programs, and produces video content for external parties, including partners, media, and rights holders.

 

About the Position

The position oversees operations for all NYRR broadcasts, livestreams, and external video production requests. Primary responsibilities include the hiring and onboarding of freelance staff and vendors, facilitating the licensing of archived footage and access for content capture, and producing videos for external distribution. The successful candidate will understand the production process and have strong project management and video editing skills.

 

Job Responsibilities (primary and secondary duties):

  • Assist in management of production operations to ensure that quality standards are achieved, and budget goals are met.
  • Define workflows, communicate documented processes, and ensures all practices are being refined and tuned with learnings.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and outside vendors to develop and support production schedules, crewing, and resources to meet short and long-term production goals.
  • Identify and resolve production issues and develop process improvements and best practices.
  • Develop and monitor budgets and procedures to support the production infrastructure.
  • Hire and onboard broadcast operations part-time staff and vendors, including production assistants and coordinators, videographers, editors, drivers, bike spotters, and hair and makeup artists.
  • Assist in the stage management of NYRR races and experiential events.
  • Work with Media & Public Relations team to produce and edit race day video news releases for distribution to broadcast outlets.
  • Manage year-round Special Project requests from NYRR partners and third parties, including licensing, editing, and distributing archived footage, and facilitating onsite access to NYRR events for video capture, working closely with NYRR’s Legal and Strategic Partnership Teams.
  • Support the analytics tracking and reporting for NYRR content across a variety of mediums and distribution channels.
  • Support production of video melts for use in NYRR broadcasts, and third-party video projects.
  • Support partnership with NYRR’s local broadcast partner and coordinate production of features for live broadcasts and shoulder programming.
  • Organize database of NYRR-owned video assets and facilitate the organizations video server.

 

Job Requirements:

  • 3 years of production/project management and video editing experience required
  • Experience managing video coverage at live events
  • Understanding of broadcast restrictions, and the licensing of footage and content capture access
  • Highly organized with strong administrative skillset
  • Ability to carry out detailed instructions and multi-task
  • Demonstrated decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook), and Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, After Effects, Illustrator)
  • Experience working with digital asset management tools

Salary: $65k – 70k
